I have an extremely sweet tooth which is a major down fall when strolling past places like this. Instantly I have seen all the jars of different coloured candy, I can smell the delicious scents of sugary goodness and Im hooked. Not only have I GOT to go in, but I HAVE to buy something too. Money is thrown away when it comes to rock candy, I love it! The rock from here is pretty special. They have such a wide range of different flavours, and all with different patterns. I had a strawberry lollipop that really was out of this world! It was big and colourful and it lasted quite a while, which is good because with the normal candy its gone in about 5 minutes. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, come here for a fix!

Rock Candy meets the comedy club and voila– Lolly WA is born. Atwell Arcade is rich with character because of shops like this. I’m not a big lolly kind of girl, but.. .(the proverbial but) I AM a huge advocate of sugar and a show and rock candy establishments have nailed that one BIG time. I remember going to the BIG banana in Coughs Harbour(NSW) and two things stood out to me, frozen chocolate coated nanas and.. . the candy shop where i was completely hypnotized by the candy making process and, to this day, I am still mystified by how those picture perfect detailed images appear flawlessly in every piece of hand rolled and mass produced candy! Lolly is a fun shop– i may not exude the vibrancy and buzz that the rok candy store in Perths’ CBD does, but it has a lot of sweet quirks(like a candy ken doll straddling a phallic like sail boat with a candy shark fin in the blue candy water) The selection of pops and rocks is as huge as the candy rainbow, the colours and flavours are the essence of candy– these guys are truly candy masters! Sweets and giggles– Lolly’s on it!

This is a shop that will delight kids of all ages, including kids who are now in their twenties, like me. Jars of pretty sweeties and massive colourful lollipops tempt you from all sides, calling to you in their sugary voices. ‘Eeeeat meeee, eeeeeat meeee.’ Actually, that’s pretty creepy. Forget that. It’s hard to resist such colourful little nuggets of sugary happiness when they’re laid out so nicely in such cute little jars, but the jars of rock candy at Lolly WA don’t really seem like the kind of thing that it’s acceptable to buy for yourself. That would just be wanton decadence, surely. They’re more of a gift, I’d say. You can even watch the candy being made on the counter in front of you, which is as interesting as it is mouth-watering.

If you are a shop that sells a wide selection of sugary goods, chances are I will immediately like you. It is impossible to not like anyone who provides your taste buds with a tantalising fix of rock candy, lolly pops, and chocolate filled confectionery, correct? Lolly WA is on to a good thing, and is one of the country’s finest manufactureres of sweet saccharine goodness. Their speciality? Rock candy! I used to hate rock candy but it definitely has its pros(it obviously lasts a lot longer, thus the ‘smarter’ option when it comes to rotting your teeth!). Located down Atwell Arcade, for a place that conjures up so many happy feelings, Lolly WA certainly does occupy rather grim premises. This place is dark. I’m slightly scared to enter, but am persuaded by an arrangement of giant lolly pops in the shape of love hearts. Their wares certainly are eye-catching, all displayed in large jars just like in Willy Wonka’s own factory. The woman making lollies behind the glass counter greets me as I move across to a kaleidoscopic display of brightly coloured lozenges. To be honest, I felt a little bit awkward in the store, as though my every move was being watched. I was certainly glad when someone else entered the store, as the fit out is a little too intimate for my liking. Their selection of candy doesn’t seem as large as Sara’s over in the Piazza Arcade, but they boast an assortment of over 30 delectable flavours for you to suck on. It’s certainly interesting to watch the staff work their magic behind the glass counter. Traditional candy making at its best! Their lolly pops are so perfectly formed I feel like they’re actually collectors items rather than edible. Good place for a gift, but not the best for ogling.
