There used to be quite a few little video game stores around town but nowadays the Perth market seems to be dominated by EB Games and JB Hifi. There’s a good reason for that though; EB keeps its’ games priced very competitively. Though you can generally expect to pay around $ 90 for a new release, games that have been out for a while come down in price considerably, and their second hand bin is an absolute treasure trove. I scored myself a copy of Fallout 3 for my Playstation 3 recently and it only set me back twenty dollars. The cheapest games will generally be on their display table out the front, but they also have a pile below the new releases for each system. Second hand games are backed up by a warranty if you have an EB loyalty card, which are quick and free to obtain. As with other EB stores, this one currently stocks games for Playstation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC/Mac and all the current handheld consoles. The staff are friendly and generally quite knowledgeable about games, though a bit more conversant with the specifics of console games than PC stuff. This review is specific to the Fremantle location but it applies to most of the stores; this is one of the more consistent, well managed chain stores out there.
