Have you heard of the concept of ‘friendly local business’? It’s not something you tend to find in the age of online and suburban shopping superplexes. If you would like to find it, pop in to see Nigel and Ruth: you’ll come away having had a good chat, a few laughs and, if you bothered to bring in a piece of artwork, a few days later you’ll have something truly beautiful and well made. We have had many, many items framed here: photos, handkerchiefs(yes really), prints, original artworks, three dimensional pieces and even numerous tea towels stretched as if they were canvas. On all occasions Nigel and Ruth have been more than happy to discuss the pros and cons of different treatments, providing frank and considered advice and listening to our own ideas with patience and respect. Refreshingly, on some occasions they have been so open and honest as to say they think they need more time to think about how to best present items and then come back to us a few days later with really great suggestions that gave certainly improved the final result. They have won our trust to the point where we are completely at ease with saying ‘do what you think is best’. The framing craftsmanship is, of course, what you pay for. The friendly, funny, cheerful, professional conversation and service is the added bonus.

Nigel and Ruth are the good humoured proprietors of this business, conveniently located inside the Monk gallery, positioned up the back with room to move they have a lovely set up. Ruth greeted me with a big smile and I explained I was happy looking. She chatted with a friend who came in to say«hi» while I studied the frames on the wall. I souvenired a card and smiled when I read on the back: «foundation member of the picture framers guild of WA inc.» Friendly professional service and a one stop shop if your purchasing a Monk image.
