Don’t trust the hours, went at 6:30 pm and they were closed despite Unilocal saying open until 7pm. 3 star because I have to have rating.

I was gonna give 4 stars cuz my smoothie was pretty good, but bumped it down to 3 because it took FOREVERAND A FREAKINGDAY for it to be made. My friend had got a sandwich from the restaurant across the way, and he had already finished eating it before I got back with my smoothie — kinda ruins meeting up to grab lunch/a snack. I really have no idea what happened… it shouldn’t have taken that long and they didn’t act like it took long, no apology for the wait or anything. I had the mint berry tingle — apple, fresh mint, blueberries, peaches, lemon and ice. But of course I had to tinker with it, I swapped the lemon for lime — and I must say it was a good choice!

Quench is definitely my new favourite smoothie heaven! I just ordered a Mangolicious Smoothie and a Tiramisu Thickshake. What I like about its smoothie is that the drink is full of delicious mango sorbet and for me, it’s a great breakfast! Tiramisu Thickshake, after the first of sip in my life, I feel this is better than the original Tiramisu cake itself! So creamy yet still attaining its tiramisu taste! The shop is located in the heart of James St Market! Trust me, this is the greatest way for a lighter breakfast!

I’ve been to Quench exactly twice. The juices are good, very cold & freshly prepared. The toasted sandwiches are tasty and good for a quick bite. I’ve had the superjuice with kale & ginger both times and enjoyed the flavour. My gripe is this: First visit to Quench they had a sign advertising a toastie with ANY juice for $ 12. However, upon ordering, I was informed the offer DIDNOT include above referenced superjuice. This was contrary to the signage that clearly said ANY. I protested and protested and finally the person serving acquiesced to my wishes. But, I shouldn’t have had to protest at all, let alone repeatedly, when the signage said ANY. Note to Quench management: if you’re going to have exceptions to your advertised prices /specials, you need to list them on the signage. I’m fairly certainly that it’s even required by law you do so.

Amongst all of the coffee shops at this end of Fortitude Valley, Quench is a sight for sore eyes — particularly on a hot day! Their glass cabinets of gelato, salads, and sandwiches as well as the sound of the blender and juicer make for a nice change amongst the sweet chocolate muffins and hot coffees. I only started coming here recently because it always seems to be busy, and unfortunately when it gets busy the wait can be a little longer than a quick trip out of the office. I’ve also found that it can be a little daunting since there’s no set place to order/pay/line up so you can have that awkward ‘oh no you can go before me /but he was here first’ etc. The smoothies are absolutely wonderful. This isn’t some watery artificial tasting Boost Juice — this is the real deal. Mango smoothies are my vice and this was top notch. I’ve even branched out to other flavours that have been equally as good. I’m yet to try anything else here, but I’m sure I’ll have to sample the gelato soon. There was an interesting array of flavours — not just your standard fruit flavours!

Nothing beats an ice-cold fresh juice on a hot Brisbane day, and Quench is just the ticket! The juices at Quench are filling and sometimes even my substitute for lunch when I’m not quite sure what I feel like. I’ve sampled the majority of the juices and smoothies on the menu, and they never seem to disappoint. Their salads, wraps and sandwiches aren’t quite as impressive as the juices and are expensive for what they are($ 6.90 for a basic sandwich). The juices aren’t cheap either but are good portions and very filling so I feel as though I’ve had my money’s worth. One thing that I’ve noticed on my many visits to Quench is that there’s no real system for getting things done. For example, rather than having one person serving, one person toasting sandwiches and one person making the juices, the staff try and do everything at once, and consequently it can sometimes take a long time to be served when it’s busy. It gives the place a bit of a disorganised feel, so beware at busy times because it might be a while before you get your juice. If you’re in the James Street area and need a takeaway lunch, there are better places in the area that you can go to get food. However if a combination of fruit and sorbet is what you need then Quench has you covered!

Quench. Gelati. Wraps. Juice. Salads. Sold. On a humid 33 degree Brisbane day, you only need to see the bright orange Quench logo, the yellow and green laminates on the wall, the fresh fruit lining the window and you start salivating for a refreshing drink. Quench have frozen blends, smoothies and mixed fruit juice as well as some decent gelati. I’ve sampled a wide range of their products and have been pretty happy each time. The chocolate gelato is decent though it’s their fruity gelati which stand out. Of course, on the 33 degree day I visited Quench, it was too hot for anything but a frozen blend. My husband and I shared a Mint berry tingle(apples, mint, lemon, ice, blueberries, peaches) and a Yuluvit(pineapple, strawberry, apple, pineapple, sorbet). Both were good although my personal vote goes to the Yuluvit which was much sweeter than the tangy Mint berry tingle. With their range of smoothies, wraps, gelati and salads, Quench is usually pretty popular all summer long. There was a line up when we arrived but we happily strolled around for ten minutes until the line cleared. It’s definitely worth the wait.
