«When I go out, I love steak and caviar.» Cameron Diaz Well Cameron may not get the caviar here but she sure will get an awesome steak and a bottomless supply of pommes frites. I went here for dinner last night and tried to book on Dimmi to find all reservations were taken. I gave them a call and they said it is possible to rock up and pop your name down on the waiting list… so off I trot to Les Bubbles and do just that. The friendly door team took my number and estimated a potential wait of 45 minutes for a table and suggested I pop downstairs for a drink in the bar as I wait… you only have to offer me a drink once so downstairs I decent. Interestingly the building used to be an old brothel and downstairs in the«Bathhouse» bar you will find a bar with a spa! If you are brave enough you can strip down and jump in as towels are provided. I was less brave and grabbed a beer and before long my phone was ringing saying there was a table for me and bring my drink up with me. The interior is pretty cool. A mixture of gloss black brick tiles, mosaic flooring, walls packed with random and eclectic photographs and paintings and a mix of globe lights, old fashioned fillament bulbs and yellow neon sign lights. Ever been to a restaurant and just cannot decide what to order? Well here this problem has been elevated as there is only one thing on the menu… steak and bottomless pommes frites. You have the choice of three sauces to accompany your steak — when I visited the choices were Sauce de Paris, Bernaise or Peppercorn and Cognac. You are served a fresh salad to start and then your steak is brought over. I ate the recommended medium-rare steak and it was cooked to perfection. You get so many pommes frites even the biggest of appetites would struggle to ask for a second helping. I missed dessert but there looked like an choice of American Sundae type desserts. If you are vegetarian it did say to ask your server what the vegetarian dish was, so therefore think you will get something more than salad and chips if you are not a meat eater. The restaurant is in a redeveloping part of China Town and I certainly recommend heading out of the normal beat to check this restaurant out. If you don’t like to wait then I recommend booking in advance. Enjoy your steak!

Steak & Frites — Wow do something exceptionally well and stick to it! Steak done to perfection. Fries delicious and the Paris Sauce is tangy and delicious. The waitresses wear French Maid uniforms in keeping with the buildings former use as a brothel! But the ladies are friendly and a bit cheeky, but all above board and in keeping with the spirit of the former use. Service was timely, efficient and accurate. A great meal experience. Would recommend.

When I first heard the concept behind Les Bubbles I was thrilled. After frequenting Relais de Venise«L’Entrecôte»( ) when I lived in London, I couldn’t believe the idea hadn’t come to Brisbane sooner… perfectly cooked steak, a delicious sauce and UNLIMITEDFRITES. I have now been to Les Bubbles three times and haven’t been disappointed. The service is always fast, the meal is exactly what you would expect(steak and fries) and it’s good value. It’s got a great atmosphere and is the perfect spot for a late night meal, catch-up with friends or intimate dinner. I highly recommend the pepper and cognac sauce with your steak and fries… and don’t be shy in asking for more fries and sauce!

This is fast becoming our favourite low-key, low-fuss dinner spot. Where else in Brisbane can you get PERFECTLY cooked medium rare steak, the most amazingly delicious sauces and unlimited fries with a stunning array of cocktails? Oh and just in case you didn’t know, it’s ALL gluten free. Yes, you read that right. The chips. The Sauce. The majority of stunning desserts(including the gosh darn chocolate fondant, omggggggg). It’s a coeliac’s heaven. We have been here twice and each time we enjoy the food and drink and excellent service. We booked both times due to its popularity, and I would advise against turning up looking for a table. The earlier you can book the better lest you’re stuck with a 5pm slot — and they will churn you through quickly! The restaurant upstairs is dotted with smaller wooden tables and larger comfortable booths. We are yet to have enough people to warrant a booth, but the tables are comfortable enough(if not a little cramped). I LOVE the various pictures and paintings of Brisbane celebrities adorning the walls both upstairs and downstairs. It adds a lot of charm and humour abounds everywhere you look. The bar downstairs is a little more basic although it’s not often you find a bar with a spa in it! All drinks are served in plastic cups and there is ample cushioned bench seating along the side of the venue. I would imagine it would get hot down there when it’s full — thankfully you can jump in the spa and cool off at any point. All in all we will continue coming back and delighting in the reliability of such beautifully put together meals. I find myself getting cravings for that sauce on the regular and who can go past the chocolate fondant with ooozy chocolate sauce… go easy on the fries though, you need to save some space for this delicacy.

Loved the fun Frenchy vibe and upbeat and super helpful staff. We had tasty meals(the leafy salad that comes out before the steak is covered in an amazing dressing and steak was cooked to perfection) and my cheeky French maid cocktail was delish and was served in a cute glass. The biggest decision you will be faced with all night is which sauce — I can vouch for the French and Bernaise. Fries were awesome as well. If you’re in the mood for some classy meat, this will be your jam.

Damien Griffiths has definitely hit it out of the park with this one. Les Bubbles is a quaint moderately sized French Bistro and Bar paying homage to its somewhat sordid past. Les Bubbles is on Wickham St in the Valley and was once an illegal casino and brothel back in the Fitzgerald Inquiry. The photos of infamous 1980’s characters adorn every wall with red, yellow and blue neon signage on the exposed brick. The food: Les Bubbles has one main on the menu — Steak Frites. A cut of beautifully cooked well seasoned rib fillet and a side of salty frites — or French fries, served with an option of sauces. The Bearnaise, Café de Paris, and Green Peppercorn and Cognac and also a side salad served before the mains arrive. Did I mention that the frites are unlimited? Yes! You can have as many or as little as you like along with the sauce! Chip lovers rejoice! After a main each, with complimentary bread and butter, 2 glasses of Shiraz, and a perfectly airy chocolate mousse with vanilla chantilly cream it is safe to say we left quite satisfied. Go here if you love steak and chips, an epic dessert list, and to people watch — the clothing choices that patrons chose to wear were fabulous. The service was fantastic. Every single waitperson was bubbly(hehe) and friendly and the wonderful French accents of the males was music to my ears. The females in French lace trimmed maid style aprons was a bit tongue in cheek — a nod to the buildings history perhaps.
