Irish pub with some pretty good Guinness if you love a the guinness they have a club and if you drink enough you get things and your name on a plat! Become famous in flemington/kensington! ahah Food wise they got the irish style food going on best hungover cure is the cheesy shepherds pie YUMYUM and YUM. They also go the classic steaks and what not! Sundays you can find yourself there for a lovely roast! The setting of the pub is half restaurant and the other half is that pub feel! also our door sitting in the front of the pub and a really coool court yard in the back!

I used to come here a lot and it used to be great, the food was of a higher standard and the service was great. My Irish stew was sloppy and had little substance, a friend ordered the porterhouse only to be told 5 minutes later that they were sold out and would replace the porterhouse with a rib eye steak. The rib eye came out super rare when it was ordered to be done medium, not just a little rare, blood pooling rare. After asking for it to be re-fired, we waited over 10 minutes for it to be returned to the table still undercooked but now somehow chewy and tough. I don’t know how that happened. I’m bummed out because this place used to rule. Used to have the best parmas, great steaks, delicious stews and other classic Irish bar fare, now it feels like it got popular and they got lazy. Bummer. :(

Popped in for lunch today, just sat in the bar and was not disappointed at all with the food. Lamb hamburger with chips and salad and a pot of draught! Bloody lovely.(No Guinness for me) Give it a 5⁄5 for the burger, highly recommend. Staff very friendly and will be back again for sure.

Great traditional pub. Not like the main stream pretend Irish pubs. Great food. Ample serves. Good atmosphere. Live music in bar and restaurant.

When I was 18 I went on a 16-night-12-country-19-city-contiki-tour. And 3 of those nights were spent in Dublin. So, lets just say I’m a bit of an expert when it comes to all things Irish. The thing I love about the place is that it meets both the local and ‘theme pub’ needs well. The bar area is somewhat small and can fill up quickly, especially on the weekend. The ‘bistro is a little bigger and caters for both big and small groups. Be sure to book ahead especially for Friday and Saturday nights and lunch on Sundays. My favourite spaces is are out the front or the courtyard out the back. Both provide both sun and shade and can also fill up very quick. The menu is what you’d expect at any suburban pub with a few Irish twists thrown in. The meals are fairly cheap and very filling. You’ll find the usual beers on tap and a small but reasonably priced wine list. During cup week and of course st paddy’s day it can get quiet crowdered

Some unique menu items with reasonable prices, the food is very good, try the Guinness Beef Stew for a unique twist on some comfort food.

Five out of five sheep! Holy cow! I have spent a bit of time in Ireland, and I have to say, I think this pub is right up there with the best pubs I visited over there. I ordered the Traditional Irish Stew. It was served in a bread bowl, the lamb was so tender, and there was lots of potatos. It is exactly what you imagine an Irish stew to be. The serve was rather large, but it did cost me $ 19 so it about evens out. All of the staff were very friendly, and a rather lot of them spoke with an Irish accent, which was a nice touch. I went there on a Sunday night and it did seem rather busy. I didn’t book but I would recommend you do so if you are planning on going on a weekend — we only got a table because it was early in the night and there were only 2 of us. Overall I thoroughly recommend the Quiet Man and I intend to go there the next time I am in Melbourne.

Saturday nights are great. Live music(but they have gigs every night). Sundays is the jam. They’ve got a traditional Irish session. Traditional Irish menu; the best Lamb’s Fry in town. Large Magner’s is only $ 7 from 7 till 7! Breadbowl stews also, lamb or beef. And they even import Irish confectioneries(like biscuits, chocos, etc.). Super fantastic(almost all-Irish staff) that makes the pub. …oh, and they got a Bottle-O.

The Quiet Man is pretty heavy on the Irishness, with Guinness on tap, Guinness in the pies and a few splashes of Guinness on the floor after 10pm. In fact, it’s so Irish they claim the pub was actually built in Dublin and before being shipped to Melbourne and assembled on site. Personally, I think that story is a little bit of Irish bullshit, but it’s a good indication of what you’re in for at The Quiet Man. The menu is as Irish as the rest of the place, featuring stews, fish n’ chips(with Guinness batter) and potato skins. The restaurant is very popular so it’s advisable to book, but you get the same menu in the bar, although it’s tough to find somewhere to sit and eat on a Friday or Saturday evening. Personally I don’t care if I have to eat the bangers and mash off my lap — the food is so good it only lasts a few minutes on my plate, anyway. There’s often live music(of the Irish variety) and other traditional pub-practices such as quiz nights — check out the website before you go to see what’s on. Oh, and there’s a handy bottle shop attached(named Paddy’s, naturally) if you want to kick on after the pub closes. I love a themed venue when they’re executed with complete integrity, and The Quite Man really delivers. Disclaimer: I admit I’m a fan of daggy pubs, so my reviews tend to be more generous toward them than your average Unilocaler, but I swear this one really is good…
