The serving sizes are so small. I’m starving. I burst out laughing when I was served the smashed avocado, on an enormous plate, with two tiny squares of multigrain toast. Boooo Pepper

Great food, fresh juice, bad chai. It might be a bit unfair to include«bad chai» in the tag line, but as an avid chai drinker I couldn’t help but notice how incredibly not tasty the chai lattes are. The mix seems to have an uneven blend of spices and each time I order one(hoping it will be different) the flavors are lost floating in an ocean of too much water. BUTWAIT! The freshly squeezed juices and succulent smoothies definitely account for the lack of tasty chai. There are different variations to choose from(my favorite is the veggie juice: celery, ginger, beetroot, lemon, and apple) and the staff is accommodating for changes and additions(I often add carrot and spinach for an extra healthy experience). The food is always enjoyable even though I don’t eat there too often(I mostly just go for juices and coffee) and it’s a relaxing spot to hang on a chill Saturday morning. Plus, it’s situated on the corner next to Newmarket train station so if you’re in the area… it’s convenient. One attribute I would note, however, is that the staff always seems busy even when they aren’t that busy. No one is rude, but compared to other cafés I frequent there is less incentive for familiarity. I would return more often if someone actively remembered my face, I suppose. But then again, I visit cafés for the experience more than anything else. I would rate Pepper a 3.5 if I could, but since I can’t I’ll round up to 4… because I’m nice. Now go drink some juice.

Why have I not written this review earlier! I am literally in LOVE with Pepper! Real love. It’s in a great location, out of the way yet close to everything. The small café has a great menu with everything you’d want plus some surprises to tempt you away from the classics. The servings are a good size and the hot chocolates are delicious, which is real important to someone like me. One of the best parts of this café is the staff. The staff are so friendly!!! I want to put them in my pocket and take them with me every where! Can’t wait to head back :)

Great little café to grab a sneaky coffee before stumbling onto the train. Service can be a bit odd-ball. Especially behind the coffee machine. The baristas are superbly friendly and will put a friends order before a strangers at times. Either way it doesn’t matter as the coffee you will get will be delicish! The banana bread is worth going monkeys for. Slather in butter and it will hide the calories. Seriously no complaints about this little café.

Firstly and fore-mostly, this fantastic hidden away gem is great for people with kids and babies. In addition they take bookings, which makes it fantastic if you want to meet a group for bunch. We LOVED their coffee, and the whole group burned through long black after long black. We were there for brunch and the food was loved by all. Standard breakfast menu, however with a bit of a twist and some creativity, makes for good eating. Friendly staff, all willing to make recommendations. Ability to sit inside or outside. There is a little two person«patio» which I will be sure to reserve next time I go with someone, one on one.

Pepper is super cute. Cute neighborhood, cute staff, cute flower on the tasty coffee. Cute! I had the pesto eggs with a whole bunch of extras and it was amazing. The serving size was perfect and nothing was overly greasy. Because the breakfast was so good I had to give their yo-yos a go as well(I consider myself a yo-yo conisour) and that was pretty awesome too. The café is child-friendly(I was at one of the only tables without a baby decorating it) and they have a few things on the menu especially for little people. Even though it’s not in my local area, I would happily cycle across town to hang out at Pepper again, particularly if I’m catching up with friends who have children. Disclaimer: the fact that my breakfast at Pepper’s was with a totally adorable man may have somewhat influenced my opinion of the café.
