Beautiful café with awful service, shame. When I walked in I got a cold reception and sadly my coffee looked and tasted worse. A few minutes later I took my coffee back and said it was cold but really it was just bad and I didn’t want to hurt the young guys feelings I guessed he was still learning. He said it was no problem and he’d make me another. A woman came over, handed me the new coffee and aggressively said that the next time I complain about the coffee being cold I shouldn’t just sit there and that next time they wouldn’t remake it… Totally rude and disrespectful attitude, I’ve worked in cafes my whole life and would never talk down to a customer like that, very disappointing.

Tomboy is very hipster, what with its ye olde sign hanging from the ceiling, but crucially the coffee is good. The breakfast brioche thing I had with egg and avocado was also solid. Service was quick and friendly,

Excellent coffee, range of gluten free brownies(GF makes brownies better in case you haven’t discovered that yet) and sufficiently aloof barista makes this a solid choice for take aways, breakfast and lunch. It’s only its simplicity in décor /atmosphere that makes me not give this a 5 i.e. there’s no wow factor, but it’s the best coffee North of Johnston if you’re heading up Smith.

First time here and definitely not the last. I had the avocado, goats fetta, bacon & poached egg on toast, absolutely divine! The fit-out is so adorabubble and you’ll find antique kitchen utensils pinned on the toilet wall and butchers paper hanging from the wall.

I’m a regular here as I work in the area, although I’ve pretty much only ever had the coffee. The coffee is good, one of the better coffees in the area for sure. The only negatives are the price — $ 3.80, whenever nearly everywhere in the city charges $ 3.50 — not that it’s a huge difference but just why?! It is a very hipster joint too so for some that’s great others not so much — for me it just means the music is usually decent while I wait my five minutes for coffee. Friendly staff too. Preferred to Everyday Coffee around the corner.

Tomboy uses Seven Seeds beans for their coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the soy lattes I had here. We came here for breakfast one morning and had the smashed peas on toast with asparagus and a breaded egg.(who knew you could bread an egg?) Very green presentation and unique food option! One thing I have to point out is that sometimes there are flies that land on the baked goods which are exposed to the air. Just saying, maybe a protective case would be nice, even if it makes the presentation a bit uglier. Overall Tomboy has a very chill ambiance and is a pleasant place to enjoy a nice coffee.

Very funky coffee Mecca. I love the old cinema seats on the wall that looks into the shop. This is what cafes should be about — good coffee, good food and aethetics that tickle you and make you laugh!

Ultra hipster joint, no menu, disdainful of and quick to hustle out anyone not in the club Basic food — the coconut berry slice is straight out of the recipe on the back of packets of frozen berries, muffin fell apart without wrapper If you want hip with quality and without being stuck up go to Beatrix, or head back down the road to the two traditional cake shops
