Meat Lovers Paradise — Argentinian style. If you’ve been to Argentina you know they love their barbecued meat. That is exactly what you will get at El Gaucho’s and plenty of it. For $ 32pp you can have the all you can eat Asado platter. Décor is basic but has an Argentinian feel. Staff is friendly. Parking can be a bit of a hassle so public transport may be a better option. Tram runs past the front door.

— Vegetarians, stop reading now — $ 29 Parillada Asado Completo(Argentinian barbecue cooked on a grill) all you can eat meat! Delicious smokey and charred tender beef brisket, chorizo, black pudding sausage, rack of ribs, and sides of green and potato salad — all replenishable at your request — Try some of the tasty side sauces of chimichurri and chilli, particularly on the brisket — Service was attentive and friendly(restaurant at around 1⁄3 capacity) — Don’t eat lunch before coming here — Bit annoyed that they didn’t include GST in the price, so it’s more like $ 32 per person but not too much of a biggie — Kudos for bringing something relatively uncommon and pretty unique cuisine to this part of the world

When my manfriend said he was taking me out for Argentine food, I didn’t really know what to expect, but I was certainly surprised by the absolute festival of animal flesh that I got. So. Much. Meat. According to my manfriend, this means the food was incredibly authentic. Because of the novelty, we both had a ‘Volcanic Steak’. No, it’s not a slab of meat that squirts out burning hot red sauce. It’s a regular steak that is cooked and served on scorching hot rocks(volcanic rocks, apparently). The meat was super-juicy and HUGE, but I didn’t care much for the sad vegies on the side. Instead I got my vitamins and fiber from the sangria — awesome. The deco at El Gaucho isn’t great — but not bad enough to make it bad-good. The service was friendly and fast, and I think overall it would be a good spot for a meat-lovers party or function, but not a good night out with your vegetarian friends. NOTE: Fans of Sizzler — El Gaucho does all you can eat specials…
