Stopped in here this morning for the first time as I had an appointment in the area. Firstly the coffee is amazing so lots of stars for that and the staff seemed friendly. I had only 1 major issue, hence the 3 star rating. I had 20 minutes to kill so I asked for my coffee in a mug rather than a takeaway cup. I was waiting a while when I realised people who had arrived after me were walking away with their coffee whilst I was still waiting. I went to enquire as to why & I was told it was because I ordered it in a mug so sometimes takeaways were dealt with first! Really? Just because I ordered a mug so I could sit down & have my coffee(which is a rare treat midweek!) does not mean I have all day. I ended up having to get it in a takeaway cup cos I was running out of time. Bad system! All customers should be dealt with in the order they arrive. Staff should not be judging the amount of time people have to spare in their day.

Tucked into a fairly ordinary set of shops on Ferny Way are a couple of Ferny Grove gems. The first is Coffee on the Way. For me one of the best tells of a great coffee place is the smell. I stopped in this afternoon to grab a quick caffeine fix hoping to get an average coffee(Ferny Grove is not really known for it’s coffee or restaurants). Upon entering I was greated by the most delicious smell of coffee(a VERY good sign). I ordered from the young guy behind the counter(nice to see a teenager with a part time job!) who could not have been friendlier or more pleasant and eager to please. I also decided to treat my sweet tooth with what appeared to be a cheesecake and chocolate slice. My coffee was ready in the blink of an eye and the slice was so tasty that my sweet tooth was well satisfied. My coffee was HOT, fresh and not burned(the sign of a barista that knows their trade and machine). I was also glad to see in the cabinet a good range of savoury and sweet treats. I will definately be back and can’t wait to give it a try over the weekend.

Its good to see that someone is making an effort to bring a little bit of coffee culture to the north west side of Brisbane. Coffee On The Run is a family owned business located at the top of the Ferny Village. It’s a quaint little shop that has plenty of seating and the girls in there certainly know how to make a great falt white. Inside they also serve a small menu that includes some breakfast sangas served on Turkish bread, some light deserts and cakes. For lunch there are some delicious gourmet rolls and sandwiches to feast upon. As tempted as I was, looking into the display cabinet, I had to fly. Donna, the owner, told me how on the weekend they are flat out with customers unwinding and catching up with friends for a coffee and a bit to eat. I tell you this, I believe her one hundred percent.
