Cake selection looks nice. The coffee was pretty good. Possibly not the best coffee on the high st but the friendly staff and quiet interior make it underdog competition.

Having not been here for a while it was obvious that the ownership had changed since my last visit. Not because of the décor or layout of the café which is pretty much the same but obvious when our breakfast arrived & my friend and I looked at our 3 little pieces of bacon on each of our plates with one piece of bread and looked at each other with the same look of disappointment. On a plus side, the poached eggs were fine, as was the coffee but since there are several other cafes to choose from for breakfast along Station Street I’d be going elsewhere next time.

The food here is pretty good, I have pretty basic tastes so a parma or burger normally goes down well. This place does both pretty well. Pretty relaxed interior and it never seems too noisy. I love the selection of cakes here(they do takeaway cake slices too which I get fairly frequently), and the staff are all really friendly. This place is worth a look.

I was recommended this restaurant by a work colleague so I just had to check it out. Was it the right decision to listen to a mid 20’s female who doesn’t know how to cook herself? Well let’s just say, I won’t be in a hurry to go out for lunch with her when she is picking the place to eat… I am predominantly a sucker for salt & pepper calamari, and once I saw it on the menu, my decision was made fairly quickly. Unfortunately my usual has let me down on this occasion. If you like the light and fluffy salt & pepper calamari that melts in you mouth, choose something different at this place. If you like the crappy salt and pepper calamari from some over commercialised fish & chip place, you have nothing to fear. The wife had the saganaki which was a bit rubbery & a tad too rich. She followed up with the chicken & avocado pide which was just an overcooked focaccia. Unimpressed and would not recommend.

I loved this store. I had a croissant with ham and cheese. Delicious! I also thought the fact they were selling Lyons Christmas cakes made me like the café a little more. Interesting setup where the food counter is at the front of the store and the kitchen is at the back, so when they heated up my croissant the counter assistant had to hightail it all the way to the back of the store. Despite this, its still a winner! Go check it out.

Becoming a regular breakfast location when visiting Fairfield. Great atmosphere, service and meals, all for a great price! Recommend highly

It’s a sunny Sunday in Melbourne and it’s off to brunch with the girls. I am the first to arrive(the joys of being terminally punctual) and hang out at our table trying to get the attention of someone who can bring me coffee, anybody? Friends arrive one by one and it’s not until we are all seated that drink orders are taken. Bring me a vat of Skinny Caramel Latte goodness please, no vats? Fine a glass will do! Then it’s onto breakfast, all the usual suspects are there and some unusual too-for example my order. French toast with caramelized bananas, maple syrup, bacon and mascarpone. Intrigued? I was. As a sweet treat it worked well, surprisingly even the bacon added to the dish. The only conflict of interest was that the bananas and bacon combo seemed odd, but that could have just been me! The tables around us –mostly families, couples and girls brunching– seemed perfectly content despite the back area seeming a little dim despite the beautiful day. I have been here for dinner and remember the experience being even better! Qube is a welcome addition to the range of restaurants and cafes available in Fairfield.
