Heading to Essendon(my hometown) for brunch and actually heading to a different café only to find I couldn’t get in I stumbled across St Martha’s and what a find! I wandered in and was seated as requested, somewhere nice and quiet where I could read the paper and escape for a while. I ordered a coffee and sat back to relax. First thing I notice is the comfy wooden chairs — not two words that normally go together but in this case it works as does the quirky mismatched stools and chairs throughout — its really quite cool. My coffee arrives and being that I am a self confessed«coffee snob» I was pleasantly surprised to find how damn good this coffee was — each and every mouthful of it was to die for. Not long after ordering my Corn Fritters arrived and what a sight to behold! Two big corn fritters bursting with an abundance of vegies within sitting nestled atop a rocket salad, some home made tomato salsa and topped with three slices of beautifully grilled haloumi cheese and the worlds best poached egg. The first bite was like a flavour explosion of sweet tasting corn, rich tomato and what was that… pomegranate! Oh lord — could this get any better? Apparently once I cut through the most perfect poached egg it could get better. This place is a gem of a find. Parking is in the side street and a short wander(or in my case given that I have a walking stick — a slow amble). I will be back St Marta’s you can bet on that — there’s far too many things on the menu I haven’t tried yet and if they stack up to the Corn Fritters my waistline is in trouble! The staff are a delight and the cute table decorations and cutlery holders are just that special finishing touch that you expect from an establishment as finished and polished as this. They have left nothing undone or incomplete. Well done St Martha’s — bravo!

Great establishment in the suburbs. I notice that the last few comments are from a period of time again and since then it seems like much has happen at St Martha’s café. Near the end of 2014 they were acknowledged by AGFG which is no small feat, changed there coffee over to Axil — great tasting coffee!!! Did an overhaul of the staff, which has made a huge difference in the atmosphere and service, opened a cute wee little courtyard outback. Good amount of organic products and I get the impression more is to come. created an opportunity for Artist’s to display there work, keeping the café exciting and fresh with creativity! Speaking with the Manager, there seem’s to be much more in the pipeline. Keeping St Martha’s a great place always willing to grow for the community and patrons. I’m a fan of St Martha’s, heartfully recommend it to all! :)

I love this little café. The food is delicious my favourites are the smashed avocado and the lamb salad. The portions are VERY generous so it is great value. The service can be slow at times but has recently improved. They are now serving a pro-biotic drink that the barista brews himself and it is amazing. It’s my new favourite drink in summer! I also love their coffee especially their decaf which I sometimes drink. Most places serve pretty terrible decaf but there brew is amazing!

Just a short stroll away, and what a happy customer i am! coffee is delicious, yet to try all the menu but have had the pleasure of trying the pumpkin pesto sandwich and it was 5⁄5 yummo! :) The rest of the menu sounds great too and look forward to working my way through it now being a neighbour of the small but groovey café! Staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was chilled and welcoming! :) Will be back St Martha.

How lucky am I to have this little gem in walking distance when I want a take away coffee on my way to work or a delicious breakfast or brunch on a lazy weekend? And soon they’ll be open during the evening! The all day breakfast menu features the usual suspects like smashed avacado on toast, eggs benedict and museli. We had the eggs benedict when we went and they were delish. Perfectly poached eggs and the right amount of hollandaise. From the lunch menu my dining partner and I shared the pulled pork sliders with slaw and the fried shrip Po ’ boy! Yum and yum! Both menu items came with crinkle cut chips that were crispy and fresh. The table next to us ordered the calamari and it smelled devine. From the empty plate they left I’m confident that dish was also a winner! The staff are friendly and helpful and service is great. The space is light and airy with a chilled and relaxed vibe. I’ll continue to be a regular here!
