Jonga Jip Korean BBQ

Giving 5 out of 5, this place was amazing definitely going back soon. I went with 3 friends and had the marinated beef strips and marinated pork Korean BBQ style, which is always fun to do with a bunch of friends. The food was yummy and the condiments are endless, if you like it just buzz and they’ll refill your plate. Was awesome, almost forgot there is a new Jonggajip 11 that opened on the next street, so if this one is full pop in around the corner for a similar experience. Be mindful of the floor though, found it a bit slippery, small price to pay for the yummy food :)

Absolutely horrible. Overpriced, bland and not fresh meat. Used to be great. Extremely rude service, plates were chucked onto our table with scowling faces. They were clearing our plates even before we had finished eating as they were rushing to close up shop. Even though they still have a lot of side dishes they told us we couldn’t refill when they told us it was last order. Absolutely ridiculous. Will NEVER return. Go to the many other Korean places around Eastwood. If they continue like this they’ll continue to lose customers very quickly.

I’ve always been a fan of Korean food but never have I tried Korean BBQ and today I broke my Korean BBQ cherry!
The only thing I disliked about it was the tables are way too small. When you have a party of ten and they start serving side dishes and the table all of sudden is full and there’s no room for anything else. I didn’t know were to put my plate.
The staff were very attentive, as soon you rang the bell they came almost straight away. I don’t know the names of the food we ordered but it was a combination of mixed/​marinated BBQ meat and a seafood omelette and dumplings and other various delicious Asian delights.
Its also very very loud in here and a handy tip for ladies if you know you’re going to Korean BBQ don’t bother washing your hair as currently all I can smell is today and I’m so bloody hungry right now!!!

We booked but we still had to wait 15 minutes extra to be seated. There were seven of us.
Service was great.
They provided a wealth of supporting side-​dishes, all rather good, the fish excellent.
Meats we selected, they provided and looked fresh and were great cuts chopped to a perfect size for the bbq plates.
All in all, we had a great time once seated :)

Friends brought me here and I didn’t know what a Korean BBQ was like. I have been to the Japanese version which looks quite similar but is a bit different. What we got were a bunch of small side dishes and lots of meat. There were some strange sauces for dipping in and I have no idea what they were but they are all great tasting. The place is a bit smokey and I wish they had a better solution to that but otherwise I was pretty impressed.

there’s about 3 venues for this well known Korean BBQ. This particular one was very smoky and load with wet floors near the counter leading to the toilets and kitchen. They don’t bother with a «careful wet floor» sign. There’s a compensation law suit ready to happen. besides that… Food was good. esp. the ginger chicken and the seafood pancake.

This is a very popular Korean restaurant in Eastwood. Expect to wait for a bit on weekends. Food is great and price is reasonable. Like most Korean restaurants in Sydney, every table has a buzzer to get prompt service.

Giving this place 5 stars because of the very generous selection of side dishes here.
Makes it very worthwhile to come out here (even if you live all the way in the city, and have to go through Strathfield — which is another Korean «enclave» in Sydney.
So Far I’ve only tried the Budae Jigae hotpot and Haejangguk. The Budae jigae hotpot was good, and the Haejangguk is on par with BBQ City’s one as far as price and quality (which is one of the best I’ve tried in Sydney so far).
The BBQ haven’t tried yet, but it’s charcoal based from what I can see so it should be good.

BBQ goodness but the main plus of coming here. the side dishes ! There’s a good range to choose from — more than most other BBQ places — and they’re all pretty tasty.

There are very few places that I would say have great food, a little noisy (evenings) but fun, and this is it! One word of warning, it is very easy to over order as we have done on a few occasion’s. remember as with all Korean restaurants there are always a collection of small dishes ‚(pickled radish, spiced potato, seaweed, tofu, noodles etc selections vary from restaurant to restaurant) that come before the main dishes, Some dishes we have tried are — Bosam (steamed pork with veggies) now this dish comes in small, med and large, we ordered a med, lovely! Pajeon (seafood shallot pancake) one of my favorites, spicy chicken, Bulgogi and Doenjang Jjigae, Korean soy bean paste soup. BBQ beef is also delicious, you cook yourself. I cannot wait to work our way thru the menu. we are lucky as my close friend is Korean which makes it very easy to order, as some of the waitresses do not speak English very well. The first couple of times we did not book a table as it was lunch and not terribly busy at the time we arrived, but because we were planning to be there around 6.30pm (busy)on Thurs night we decided to book and it was well worth it, the que was quite long and it was nice to just walk in and sit down. After dinner we always visit the local supermarkets (which stay open quite late) to stock up on our Korean supplies. oh parking is a nightmare (especially on thursday, friday and saturday nights), so be prepared to be patient. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

service was inconsistent — some days good, some days bad… food was delicious. love the mini dishes. good variety, even for a non-​chili eater like me. the meat used in bbq was good. will come back again.
