John E.

Business Owner

Left Nelson College at the age of 16 and joined the RNZAF to be trained as a chef.

Left NZ in 1985 for a better life in Australia with greater opportunities.

Sold cars at various yards around Perth and did the odd catering job including weddings and birthday parties plus a few corporate functions.

Purchased the shop March 1996 and changed the name to Kiwi Fish and Chips.

The fish and chips here are pretty good, well the fish is anyway. We order two fish and chips each time and you always get loads of good quality fish that is cooked to perfection however it always seem there isn’t enough chips. Little do we know that our eyes are always bigger than our belly and we actually do have enough. I think it is due to the fact that when you were little and mum and dad use to come back with fish and chips there was always a mountain of chips that you would end up chucking out cos it was just way too much.
Now this is just rumour here but I am sure I have seen Mr Kiwi Chippy driving a Ferrari? he must be doing something right if he can drive such a flash motor around by selling chips.
This is by far one of the best chippy in the area, don’t even bother trying any off the others in a 10 km radius. If there is one thing I can whinge about (being British by birth it comes naturally) why don’t the chippies here make chips from fresh potatoes instead of the frozen ones? I think they taste much better ohh and it would be nice if the kiwis adopted the mushy peas into their menu. Great nosh and very well priced.
