Interesting variety on the menu with lots of options for dietary requirements. Great, chilled vibe with awesome coffee and tunes. Best meal of the brunch was the chorizo toast. Need to improve the poached eggs which were a touch overdone.

Returned and the food was even better. Sunny day, sat outside, got a juice and an absolutely delicious Bondi Bowl. Great neighborhood, awesome people, and the food does not disappoint. Brought a colleague out of CBD for lunch and they raved. Wish I had tried the desserts! Great selection for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free!!! Healthy and delicious!

I’m not sure if it was because of all the amazing reviews setting really high expectations or we mis-chose but we couldn’t help but feel somewhat disappointed after dining at boots darling. We had the lamb ratatouille and zucchini fritters and while there was absolutely nothing wrong with them, they just didn’t blow us away. The salted caramel slice was also ok but nothing… Amazing. Service was ok, everything was just ok ok ok.

Open early, friendly baristas, great vibe. The coffee is strong and perfectly hot on a cold wintery morning.

I just had the most amazing brunch at Bootsdarling. I was looking for a good roll-out-of-bed-tie-my-hair-in-a-man-bun brunch place close by and I am so happy that I settled on Bootsdarling. Knowing nothing about the Sydney food scene or really Sydney/Australia in general, I’m really glad I ended up staying in Darlinghurst. I arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday and I was seated immediately. Even though it’s a small space, it was always about 90% full with a mix of sit down diners and short term coffee drinkers. Filling one side of a page, the food menu was the perfect length and variety without being overwhelming. There were plenty of good options to choose from but I opted for the Zucchini and Corn Fritters with Seared Trout. They were out of trout today so they offered either barramundi or bacon as a substitution. I was set on fish so I chose the barramundi. A few minutes later, out came a sizable portion and this plate of food was one of the brightest, most memorable dishes I’ve had in quite some time. For some context, I’ve just been traveling through Asia for the past three weeks with lots of great food, so this meal might stand out more than usual for me as just an unexpected brightness and return to what Western cuisine can achieve. Nothing was heavy or weighed down. All the flavors and components were uniquely distinct and complementary. The barramundi was perfectly seared and had deliciously crisp skin. I’ve had a lot of fish in my life and I can probably count on one hand how many restaurants have cooked fish this properly. The fritter had a great creaminess that wasn’t overwhelming or heavy in any sense, lightened further by the bright freshness of the zucchini, corn, and herbs. My egg came perfectly poached, oozing without being too watery and no hard yolks in sight. The bright arugula/rocket pesto gave such a fresh bite to everything it touched. And to top it off, everything was well seasoned. It probably helps that it’s such an intimate space with limited tables and bar seating, where the staff and chefs are able to pay more attention to each patron. For that, I am glad. And I dare say I’ll probably go back again before I leave.

There’s so many of these hidden gems that you’ll miss if you don’t do your research. i drive by this place a good few times a week and had no idea it existed though I do see a friend tag this place every day on Facebook. Upon entrance all we saw was smoke and thought there was a fire and before you know it the smoke alarm went off. Wonderful welcome indeed. Thank god we sat near the window while others smelled like they just had Korean BBQ. We had the zucchini corn fritters, pulled pork brioche, a beetroot juice and macchiato. Very nice indeed, no wonder friend goes there every morning. The fritters were quite different as most people are used to the Bills style of fritters where it’s crunchy and sweet. This one was soft with bold flavours. The pork brioche was ok and could have had more sauce and a bigger serving, perhaps with some double fried chips + aioli? Let’s not talk about the juice … The coffee was I’d say 7.5÷10. Will I come here again? Fo’ sho! Yew!

These guys are still settling in to their very fancy new digs, with lush beards and well groomed moustaches offsetting the warm wood tones and ‘found’ objects décor. The menu is a good read — the minted smashed peas and broad beans is an immediate attention grabber. Some of the flavor/texture pairings are a little skewed but I think a little more experimenting will mend that. The coffee is great — including the Japanese cold drip — and the counter is crammed with tempting morsels, cookies, cakes, muffins — so it’s a great place to snack as well as a go-to for the more substantial breakfast/lunch. Sparkling, charming service. Big tables, small benches, lovely lighting. I like this place and will enjoy watching it grow into its potential.
