Melissa’s is good. It’s open more hours than most in Dandenong. And it won’t steal from you with ridiculous prices for over-hyped, under-sized fad foods. The staff are attentive and friendly. Its location is in Harmony Square, part of the new council buildings, just across the road from the Drum Theatre. They can open the whole place right up which makes it feel spacious, but sometimes that can be annoying. It’s a design trend I know, and they are right on it, but sometimes I just wish they’d close it up, crank up the air conditioning, and leave the outdoors, outdoors. They do have an extensive cake and dessert collection, so be warned. Melissa’s is solid without being spectacular. If you can’t happily feed yourself there, you’re not trying.

Great little night bite here in Dandenong. They have a full menu, with savory dishes, sweet desserts, and coffees. Their pumpkin risotto was delicious and their latte was flavorful. The only part I was a bit displeased with, was that the nutella donut only had nutella in the very small central area. It was not really filled much with nutella. Otherwise, this is a solid place to take a friend in the evening. Great service, and good location next to the library.
