Great selection of new and used vinyls. Love the selection of $ 5 – 10 books.

Title is such a great shop, I cannot go past without calling in to discover something fantastic. As far as CD&DVD shops go it really does not get any better than this. As far as DVDs go they have the best import collection you will find anywhere including many British imports and Criterion Collection DVDs from America. Their book collection is good but not quite as impressive as the discs. The CD collection is eclectic and their selection is always interesting I discovered the fantastic voice of Martina Topley Bird in Title as they were playing her recent album, I also found the CDs of Yuka Honda(formerly of Cibo Matto and one of the electronic programmers for Yoko Ono) imported from Japan. Title is great for me because it is a rare place to discover new things you may never know of otherwise.

Do you read The AV Club everyday? Do you have a Breaking Bad email chain going(even after the finale)? Does the name Stringer Bell mean anything to you? And what is free jazz? If you answered yes(or in the case of the last one, uploaded an undergrad music studies essay) to any of these questions, then Title is going to be heaven to you. This immaculately curated book, music, and movie store is a breath of fresh air in Crows Nest, which is otherwise barren for office workers who spend the whole day thinking of things other than their work. Unfortunately, the fine selection aside, this is a very expensive store. Import law already creates a significant markup in Australian dollars on stock of this kind and the more niche items command higher prices, naturally. It really comes down to whether you are comfortable based on either principle or convenience to pay these prices. This is, after all, a very lush store and it is a real pleasure to drop in and check out the offerings. At the very least, it’ll inspire some pretty interesting conversations. Title provided plenty of grist of my ongoing discussions about Vincent Price. And also plenty of ideas for the next time I was shopping online.

The über cool TITLE is almost out of place in humble Crows Nest. This indie retailer have a cooler than cool selection of music, books and film which are a reflection of the last couple decades of pop culture. The filing system is designed to encourage ‘chance discoveries’ so TITLE is not somewhere that you spend a couple of minutes in but rather a couple of hours sifting through the cult classics, unusual generes and latest releases. If you’re a music or film buff you will love this place. If you don’t know your ‘ECM’ from your ‘Hopscotch’ then this is still a great place to pick up a unique gift.

I love stumbling across neat little finds like Title Space especially when they are virtually on your doorstep. Title sell films, music, books and fashion — that’s what it says on their postcard but this ain’t no Angus & Robertson. Walk in and you immediately breath cool… as in Miles Davis and Charles Mingus cool. The music and films come in vinyl, compact disk and of course DVD versions. The vinyls are all neatly packed and don’t look like they’ve spent half a century sitting in some ol muso’s attic or in a DJ’s throw around vinyl storage box. I bought a series of vinyl’s once just for their covers — they make cool pieces to hang on the wall as a kind of home made art series. Title is the kind of place you can find quality album covers for wee projects like this. But it’s more about the music right? In the first 60 seconds of being in this store I saw more albums I wanted to buy than I have in a long time. Rare is it to walk in to any kind of shop and want to buy everything you see but Title was one of those places for me. The debut album by an African female artist Fatou that was playing when I first walked in really set the mood. The book selections was full of finds that you just don’t find in the big chains too so pop in here if you want an original book gift. I also loved that they had a funky range of clothes made from bamboo and other eco materials — go independent small business!
