My favourite place in Coogee so far. Their smoothies and açai bowls remind me of California — healthy and so addictive! The Honey Bee and the Protein Crunch are so far my faves.

A nice little juice shop in Coogee, it is usually busy, so there may be a bit of a wait but they’re pretty good at pumping out the juices. They have an expected variety of juices and drinks, the thing that stands out is that I can buy fresh fruit there — that’s pretty cool, and it makes it feel a lot fresher. The drink I had was pretty awesome but I’ve had fresher juices, it almost tasted a bit artificial — although I did have banana and strawberry. The staff are wildly uninterested in making the customer feel welcomed or wanted. I’m not sure they’ve been taught how to smile yet. Atmosphere 5⁄10 Food 8⁄10 Drink 7⁄10 Overall 6.5÷10

well worth checking out on a trip to the beach! Fresh juices, smoothie and eats — perfect for summer and beach adventures. This place is always busy which is a testament to how great a place this is. The service is fast — surprisingly fast for how busy they are and that they make things from scratch for you. Lots of young and enthusiastic staff on. The prices are on the cheaper than other smoothie bars and high prices places on the beach front. Although the décor is less than overwhelming this place is more than worth checking out on your next beach trip.

Honeybee me baby! This place is what good smoothie places are all about. Tasty shakes, loud noises and totally tattooed servers… all with a lovely beach backdrop. I hope they don’t franchise because it will kill the beauty of it all. If you are in the area and thirsty don’t be afraid to pop on by… you won’t be disappointed.

A great place to get smoothies or my favourite, thick shakes, and they get made to order and taste better than anywhere I’ve been before. All the employees are always running around making sure you get your finished product ASAP

I tend to avoid the big chain juice bars(you know who I’m talking about), but it is definately worth having a juice at Melonhead, unlike the larger chains when you buy a drink it does not largely consist of blended ice and whipped up air, but rather juice made from actual fruit. I almost ordered the Honey Bee smoothie which has banana, mango and cinnamon, but ended up going for the Breaky Shake, which has muesli, banana, cinnamon, ice cream and honey. It was amazing, worth the $ 7 and I justified it as that is about the price of a banana these days anyway, isn’t it? and it was delicious, it is great to get that burst of fresh healthiness when feeling run down. I would still rather just eat fruit and vegetables, but when on the go, without enough hours in the day, a juice like this is perfect to fill in the vitamin gaps and refreshing. Also the service is fast and the staff are very friendly.

This is a real gem tucked away in Coogee. It is always busy, and serves, as the name would suggest, a wide variety of smoothies, juices, salads and yoghurts. Although there’s limited seating in the shop, by far the nicest thing is to grab your drink/salad as a take away and walk down to the beach. I particularly love their Greek salad — verdant fresh leaves, tossed with salty cubes of feta, slithers of red onion, large chunks of tomato and cucumber and jet black kalamata olives. A medium pot costs $ 5, leaving enough change for a regular freshly squeezed fruit juice, or a small pot of yoghurt. I’ve had both(this has become a favourite of mine) and can firmly recommend the strawberry yoghurt and bircher muesli combo. If this all seems too healthy, they offer a range of generously stuffed sandwiches, smoothies and milkshakes. The thickshakes seem particularly appealing, as does the honeybee smoothie — banana and mango blended with milk, ice cream, honey cinnamon and ice. Service is quick and efficient — I suppose they have to be considering their popularity — and I would class this a must-visit juice bar if you’re down Coogee way.
