This is a busy coffee shop, when others just a few doors away have no customers. I had a chai on soy this time(which was delicious) but the number of customers speaks volumes for the coffee. I would frequent this reasonably priced establishment again when in town. One last thing, Baby Chinos should be free! It’s only milk froth. They cost $ 1 here.

Great spot for a take away coffee, steady stream of regulars so a good local coffee spot. Waiters and waitress are always smiling so it’s a great atmosphere. Food is a little overpriced so I would just stick to the coffee

Open early. Good coffee depending who’s behind the machine. Friendly staff. Good for quick bites, egg rolls, muesli etc.

This is our go to for coffee when I visit my sister for some reason. Not sure why, it’s always busy and there’s always people sitting around or outside. They don’t have a lot of seating, there’s a few stools with benches inside, there’s not much turning room if you have a pram as we found out when we wanted to order some coffee. It’s a tight turn and there’s people everywhere. It’s a bit chaotic is a better explanation. They do an ok coffee and their food isn’t to bad either. The only gripe I have with the place is that they still charge extra for soy milk and their food is a wee bit overpriced for what you’re getting. Sometimes you also can’t hear them screaming your name for your order over the noise from the road and crowds too.

I stopped in Gusto after I finished my walk over from Bondi and this was a great way to relax and recharge before the journey back. The coffee was good and the vibe very friendly. The baristas were also very personable and made my break quite enjoyable. There was a super outgoing Brazilian women who seemed like she could have a conversation with anyone and a nice Italian barista as well. They made this bar about more than just the coffee and if I had more time in Sydney I definitely would have gone back.

I just had a fantastic iced chocolate Gusto Expresso Bar. I know I shouldn’t be reviewing an expresso bar without having well coffee, but the Iced chocolate was really great, like the ones I had as a kid with chocolate all over the sides of the glass, a scoop of floating icecream and whipped cream on top. It was rich chocolatey yumminess. Gusto is also a nice spot to sit amongst the Coogie maddness, and the service was excellent, very friendly. But if you’re wondering about the chocolate, I could smell it at least and it smelt good, are you happy?

This is definitely one of the more fashionable cafes dotted around Coogee. Its slightly shabby exterior acts as a magnet, and draws the shabby-chic set of Coogee mothers and friends in their droves. If you are lucky enough to be able to grab a table outside, it offers a great people-watching spot, right on Coogee Beach road. And, if people-watching isn’t your thing, there is a generous supply of papers and magazines to keep you occupied. I went for coffee on the recommendation of a friend, but have to say that compared to the extremely high standard of Sydney’s coffee culture, I was quite disappointed. I ordered a large mocha in a takeaway cup, although I’d grabbed a spot on one of the benches outside. It took a considerable amount of time to arrive, especially as they weren’t too busy. When it did finally make it to the table, it was lukewarm and only a small size. I took it back inside, where they duly made me another one, but they weren’t particularly apologetic or in a hurry to bring me my fresh cup. On a more positive note, their sandwiches look delicious, and the sourdough bread — crammed with raisins and nuts and lightly toasted — is heavenly. My verdict is mixed — it’s alright if you’re desperate for a caffeine fix. However, I’ve been spoiled by Sydney’s other outstanding espresso houses and therefore would be reluctant to go back.
