Yes, yes, yes. Finally someone(other than ol’ mate Calombaris) has made kebabs cool. Serving a variety of trendy, can-be-eaten-sober kebabs Biggie Smalls has only recently popped up along the kebab-heavy Smith Street. With an interior I want INMYHOUSE — think pastel tiles, 50s diner-style booths and amazing retro bar stools — this is a place you will want to pop in for a mid-week lunch or maybe a Saturday afternoon snack. It’s trendy, cool and the kebabs are just the same. I went with the Flaxseed Falafel kebab, titled the C. Wallace, while my lunch date went for the Dirty South — packed with fried chicken and pumpkin pie hummus. Both were delicious and the absolute perfect size! It filled us up without the dreaded food guilt that often comes with this type of food. There are two sauces to choose from to go with your kebab, the Old School(garlic and mint sauce) or the New School(kewpie mayo). Being a retro queen I naturally had to go with the Old School and you should not fear it! I didn’t have that dreaded stinky garlic breath after(that I know of). Biggie Smalls has an impressive variety of craft beers available(like, a huge selection), they do a classic RnB inspired Gin ‘n’ Juice and have also jumped on the boozy shake bandwagon. What more could you possibly want?!

After finishing work at 2130 and not having had dinner, I decided to drive down Smith St and see if anything caught my fancy. Growing up listening to all things RnB, Hip hop and Rap, the bright lights of Biggie Smalls Kbabs had me mesmerized… As I walked towards the entrance their Hip-hop beats had me smiling and bopping as I skimmed the menu! Their kebabs have been cleverly named including the C. Wallace(Biggie’s actual name is Christopher Wallace), West Coast, East Coast, Juicy(one of Biggie’s singles) amongst other kebabs. Being so late I opted for a lighter option from their«Other Stuff» menu and had the Corn Row — BBQ& Puffed Corn, Spinach, Herbs, Smoked Almond and added«Shrimp»! The salad was tangy and delicious with the added flavour of the shrimp hitting the spot! I’m looking forward to coming back and trying a kbab or two! Next time I’ll dine in and enjoy the ambience of their tunes and devour the food in one of their comfy looking booths.

Biggie Smalls was awesome, such a cool twist on a standard kebab shop. I wasn’t too adventurous on this visit — just settling for a Juicy but overheard people raving about the Dirty South(Fried Chicken)… YES — THAT’S RIGHT… FRIEDCHICKENKEBAB! This place is weird yet awesome. Can confirm the crinkles are awesome, the corn thingy is a weird salad option… not so good.
