I came here with my family on a Tuesday night when we could not find a pub we wanted to eat at in Joondalup. We were happy to find out that Tuesday is Steak night for $ 18 at Whale + Ale with a choice of sauces such as Mushroom, Garlic, Bearnaise or Bourbon BBQ sauce. The menu had a nice range of pub food and not weighing too heavy on the purse strings. I ordered a chicken parmigiana which was quite big and not greasy. My family ordered the steaks with some surf and turf for an extra $ 5.90. The surf and turf was interesting as it came in a white sauce separate with some squid included too. I enjoyed dipping my chips into all the sauce. I was that awful person who wants to try everyone’s steak sauce and I can say that they are nice tasting and serve good portions all around. I was impressed by the quality of the steak too as it was juicy and nicely cooked. They have a nice range of beers and wines to drink and the setting is tasteful and spacious. I was impressed by the service as the waitresses were attentive and friendly. We did have a minor hiccup when we realised one of the surf and turfs were not included in the order so we let the waitress knew who was able to add it on with no fuss or lag time. If you do find yourself in Clarkson I recommend Whale + Ale!

My family and I frequently visit the Whale and Ale for our dinner, everything on the menu is very nice, we have been through most of the options available and have never had any complaints about the food. The pricing isnt too bad and the food is of good quality. The bar is separated from the restaurant which makes it much more pleasant than other pubs in Joondalup. Service is very nice and we get along well with most staff, do be sure to book though as they can all of a sudden get really busy.

Although I don’t drink at this pub, I’m a regular for the Tues $ 18 steak night. Consistent service and good value.

I must admit when I was invited to meet some friend who live in Yanchep at the Whale and Ale I was a little wary. I expected a lot of rowdy bogans from the northern suburbs. But there are way less of them here, than there is in the Joondalup pubs. We all had a meal and once again I was surprised that the food was reasonably priced, generous portions and quite delicious for a pub meal. The choices of beers pretty good too. Not a bad suburban pub. I would go back.

Whale and Ale… I had to go in the title had me at hello. I find this pub is very much like the Sovereign in Joondalup except a bit more modern. It somehow maybe it is because of prices or the almost post menu choices I’m not sure keeps away most of the bogans. The food here is really massive and delicious, can’t go wrong with a glass of white eating and watching myself become a whale from pub food.

This place feels like forever away. It really is only 15 minutes from Joondalup. Joondalup is normally my outer limit in Perth. I only bothered as a friend was having their birthday drinks here. This place is has loud music pumping and yes it is full of English men. I have done the obligatory living in London as a youngster so I am quite used to it. They have lots of beer choices, the prices are reasonable. The staff are great. Not a bad night out.

I love this place as a dinner location. I am not too keen on the bar side of things, and I am British so you can’t get offended but the pub is filled with a load of rowdy British men. Now there is nothing wrong with that but its just not my kind of thing. The restaurant its self is out the way a bit and has some truly delicious quality foods and the prices are pretty good! I really enjoy this place, I have a lovely time whenever I go.

My karaōke song is «99 Red Balloons». What can I say? I love me some German. And when I saw it was on the karaōke list at the Whale and Ale I almost shat myself in excitement. This is a really cool, local pub that was have you sneezing over its pretentiousness nor tripping over bogans. It’s that perfect equilibrium. The food was superb, the cider served cold. It’s pretty much the place you want to be on a cold winter night, or a hot summer afternoon. And all the time with beer.
