Wow, yum. I am a bit of mixologist at home, Old Fashioned, Daiquiri, Manhattan, Martini. It takes time and endeavour to get these drinks right and these guys have it in their back pockets. We went out on Valentine’s Day to find a nice casual, breezy spot to have something satisfying in the comfort food realm. Well, the Wagyu Steak was delicious and prepared as I requested RARE, the chips were delicious and not over-seasoned, just beautifully touched with parmesan and finely chopped green onions, not overpowering the light crispy chips. There was just a little more than I could eat, snack for later. The drinks were divine.

We choose to sit in the outdoor area and I found it so comfy and relaxing. We had a look at the menu and so started the dilemma on what to order. I was drawn to The Nacho Libre($ 19) because it sounded like a borderline breakfast-lunch kind of dish. On the other hand, I also liked the sound of Up In Smoke($ 22) but wasn’t sure if I would prefer the salmon or brisket option, I went with salmon! Mr. T was content with ordering something he had seen a picture of, that was The Colonel($ 24). Our breakfast dishes arrived together which was a great start. I really enjoyed the lime and pepper in the hollandaise sauce and I felt it really stole the show. I think this dish was precisely designed to encourage you to continue eating even though you are full. I really struggled to finish this breakfast. Overall, I really enjoyed the I would definitely order this dish again! You could tell immediately that the chicken was real chicken, rather than a patty which was excellent! This was finger licking good and the batter was glorious. I feel like the elements of this dish were all smartly paired together and create a mouthful of flavours and textures in each bite. Decided to check Brooklyn Lounge out as I have been meaning to try this place for a while. Popped in for brunch with a girlfriend. A lot of American food on the menu but with just a tad of healthier twist to it. So don’t come here if your want to be eating super healthy hahah. Service was good and we ordered and received our dishes pretty timely. For the price of the meal and drinks, would have expected a little better. It wasn’t terrible, but I was looking forward to devouring my fried chicken and bacon waffles. It was just a tad too heavy handed with the maple syrup on the waffles. Wouldn’t mind coming again to try other things on the menu in future but hopefully the other dishes are up to par.

I’m really disappointed to have wasted a rare date night out on this place. I think it says it all when I looked longingly at the Hungry Jacks 100m away on the way out and wish I’d gone there instead. Oysters were dry and shrivelled, and the cheeseburger main consisted of a bun, meat and cheese. The chips were nice but still a major flavour fail overall. The cocktail list was extensive and they were good, as was the service.

One of our favourite local date night destinations. Brooklyn’s buffalo wings can’t be beaten and their ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender. Solid, comprehensive drinks list and the Hershey’s Cocktail is highly recommended as a more than adequate substitute for dessert. Highly recommended

Great music, service was good, but food was average. We had the $ 1 oysters 8 natural and 8 tequila and lime. The tequila oysters were quite strong, a few of the guys couldn’t handle it. I had pork ribs which were not the best and didn’t come with a side! The chicken wings with blue cheese sauce were less than average, quite soggy and flavourless. Wouldn’t go back again.

We came here on a Friday night for the oyster special. Hard not to love fresh oysters at $ 1 a pop, when they cost anything from $ 3 to $ 4.50 each everywhere else. Our group of 6 must have gone through hundreds of the little lovelies, some au natural, and some with lime and tequila dressing. They also provide bottles of Tabasco sauce to sprinkle on your oysters. We sat outside on the side street terrace as it was a beautiful evening, and enjoyed our feast, along with cocktails and wine. We came here months ago for the same Friday night special, and our experience was just as good. The wait staff were happy to take individual drink orders at the table, and allowed us to pay for them as we went, so we didn’t have to try and work out the bill at the end of the night. We’ve had several other menu items here — the bread with maple butter is yummy and goes well with the oysters if you need a carb fix. The salads are huge and great for sharing. They have chesterfield sofas inside, and we sat there last time as we had a big group and it was easier to serve us all on the big low tables. I’ve found the staff to be pleasant and on the ball, and service is always quick. It’s worth noting that Koko Black is just across the road in the shopping centre, and perfect for a post-oyster dessert fix.

All I can say is, $ 1 oysters on Fridays! We came and guiltlessly ate 2 or 3 dozen of the natural oysters which were fresh, briny and delicious. We also tried the mac and cheese which was a bit oily but really tasty nonetheless with bits of crispy pancetta and truffle. The antipasto platter was simple and understated, with a soft creamy cheese, prosciutto and coppa. So many other good things on the menu I wished we had ordered too. Great wine selection and the cocktails looked amazing though pricy($ 24 for one signature cocktail, ouch!). It would be great to get some American wines on the menu though seeing as this is an American style joint! Having lived 3 years in Brooklyn, I have a special place in my heart for that little borough so I was excited to try out the Brooklyn Lounge to see if it did my little neighbourhood justice. I’m pleased to say that it did! In addition to $ 1 oysters on Fridays, they have other great specials on nearly every day of the week(including a Hangover Cure on Sundays!) so I’ll certainly be back to try them all.

Awesome spot! Friendly staff, great chilled out vibe and tasty food. Feels like, Brooklyn is our go-to-place every time we are in Claremont. Three way bocconcini is amazing — we order this everytime! Would recommended Wednesday night at Brooklyn, they do Hotdogs & Hiphop every week(you can order other stuff too) — pair your hotdog with Brooklyn lager and you are set!

We went here for breakfast, and were greeted with a slightly sticky floor. No problem there, I just took that to mean they are cranking at night time. Breakfast was great, there are healthy options(egg white omelette) and not so healthy options(pancakes with maple bacon, oreo nutella milkshake). Coffee was good, service was great, and the setting was really nice, not as hectic as Atomic just over the road. Free 3 hour parking nearby in Claremont Quarter.

Popped in here for a bite to eat and catch up with a friend. It’s quite a cool bar quite open and a bit on the menu. We shared a Sunday special Hangover Plate which was a feast of ribs, wings, meatballs, aranchini, spaghetti frittata & chips… we both didn’t have a hangover but thought it sounds fab! It was delicious! All aspects were yummy. We also shared the tomato and bocconcini salad and when it came out we were like okay this is different but we ate it anyway. Halfway between eating the plate we received we were told that it wasn’t the salad but something else, we still got the salad and wasn’t charged the extra dish which was good. Overall quite nice and would dine here again.

I met dorm girlfriends here for lunch. The service was not great and it seemed that they were understaffed. We ordered the hangover plate and some other share plates. The food was good although I wouldn’t race about it.

Took a break from bridesmaid dress shopping on the weekend and pulled in for a cheeseburger at the Brooklyn Bar & Restaurant. The fit-out was aiming for an old American steakhouse vibe, but wasn’t anything too spectacular. There’s some alfresco table seating, a lot of stool and bar seating and a few chesterfield couches in the corner if you want to sit down and eat from a coffee table. The view is of the Claremont Quarter shopping centre, so great for people watching if that’s your thing. The menu is full of decent pub grub. Lots of burgers, steaks, salads and a few pastas thrown in for good measure. My cheeseburger was awesome — so juicy and served with fries. They also knock up cocktails if you’re after something strong. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable, given that Claremont is quite a… shall we say ‘stuffy’ area.
