We visited The Raffles for birthday drinks for a friend and had a great afternoon. We had a bit of trouble working out how to actually get into the beer garden, but after that we were sweet! They have a great selection of drinks and an excellent wine by the glass list. I didn’t eat anything on this visit, but I did see food coming out and it looked good!

Haven’t been back for awhile. We had the mushroom and eggplant homemade pasta and wood fired smoked ham pizza. Both were fantastic. Newly refurbed since we’ve been and a good DJ to kick off a great Sunday sess. There’s a new bar outside so service is even faster. Excellent place. An oldie but a goodie!

Half price pizza Wednesday, amazing pizza and cocktails but the music was way too loud and loads of drunk 18 year olds screaming everywhere. Hopefully isn’t like this every week?

TERRIBLE !!! Went with a friend to this establishment to watch a footy game they have recently removed all the TV’s screens and the thought of having a simple beer at this location is repellent. I would highly recommend anybody wanting to steer clear of this terrible experience to go to Clancy’s Fish Pub down the road

I haven’t stopped in at the Raffles for a while even though my office is literally a 5 minute walk away. So this is the first time I had visited since it underwent its major renovations. While the new fit out looks fresh, the grey and white patterned tiles gives the interior a milk bar appearance which to be honest isn’t to my liking. I actually expected maybe a more glam look to the bar or a more warm riverside setting. It looks a bit clinical. Apart from this, what really matters is the food and drinks. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu options. Being a Monday night, they offer a special Detox menu which had deliciously fresh sounding dishes and fresh juices. As I was with a group we opted to share a couple of pizzas — the funghi and prosciuto pizzas. We also ordered the lamb ribs, squid and chips. The food was great. The funghi pizza was one of the best tasting pizzas I’ve had. That’s a big call! I didn’t get a chance to check out the new cocktail or wine bar upstairs as I believed this was closed except on weekend nights. Seems a shame as it would be prime river viewing from upstairs.

The raffles is one of my favourites if not my most favourite bar in Perth. Lots of great nights here with good friends. The pizzas are great but I must say they need to work on their espresso Martinis. The new outside area is cool with and outdoor bar but I must admit — the new interior fit out doesn’t really do a lot for me, to be honest I prefer the out fit out.

No MAMILS No a COOKIES so after all the bad press and lies they told about the men in «Lycra l» incident you would think they would be a bit more on, on the ball. So a group of us were at the Unilocal beach party and then dicided to go have a few beers at this place that has just reopened and has recently got a lot of bad press and been seen to discriminate against certain groups that were visiting. As everyone else was already in side waiting for me, I was surprised that babe stopped at the door by the bouncer. You can’t go in with that he said. I was stopped because I was holding 4 little gift bags. Contents to the bouncer unknown at this stage. I was told if my little gift bags were food I couldn’t go in. I told him that my friends were inside 8 of them,(I could see them from the door) Drinks were on the table and we were all going to order dinner. I asked him to get the manger and I told him that we were all at the Unilocal beach party and they were cookie gift bags that we were hardly going to tuck into with our beers, starters and mains. All this took about 20 mins, finally they took the cookies away, We had our beer and decided that we didn’t need to drop $ 500 on this place so we all went across the road for pizza. stay tuned for that review and probably another 8 negative ones on this place. Good luck to the management to this establishment.

It started off well. Having a coffee whilst waiting for my husband to join me. He cycles to the venue and… no lycra allowed. Well thanks very much Raffles. That is the end of our business to you. We left and will not return . It is ludicrous to ban people who try to be healthy. If cyclists smell, so do fat people — they should be banned. But that is politically incorrect of me to say. But my weekly coffee will be elsewhere — just down the road.

The NEW raffles! After some renovations, it’s open! Have to say not a lot has been changed at the front bar except the outdoor seating now has round high bar tables with planter boxes and trees inside and high stools, instead of the wooden square tables. Still do the pizzas(about $ 20) and the bar menu is very casual. It’s the insane wine menu that is seriously impressive. Obtaining hard to find and up-and-coming winemakers, I was really surprised and pleased to see the selection both by the glass and bottle. Small issue — what is with the women’s toilets? The toilet paper roll is at a high for small people, so incredibly low i almost fell off trying to grab some. Did however love the mirrors per stall for ladies to do their makeup touch ups. Good and fast service, quite attentive.

Despicable service. Last meal came out an hour after the last person finished their meal. Young blonde lady today told us clearly it was our fault for not using table service from which we had no idea about. Poor performance here today, food is reasonable but staff and service need a lesson in manners and decorum.

Without a doubt, my favourite chicken salad in Perth is The Queen’s Cajun Chicken salad, so when I have a chicken salad anywhere, it’s always judged on a scale of 0 to The Queens. The chicken salad at The Raffles was about 6. Cajun style free range chicken, sweet potato salad, cos, onion, tomato, cashews & lime dressing 25 The chicken was flavorsome, juicy and probably my favourite part of the dish. There was far too much onion for my liking, the sweet potato was inconsistent — some bits were soft, while others were hard and undercooked and the cashews were broken… I’m not sure if I got the dregs of the packet or if they are chopped. The lime dressing was nice but a bit overpowering and didn’t compliment the rest of the dish in my opinion. The service as The Raffles is efficient and professional. The clientele are an interesting bunch. If anything, head for the people watching. Others at my table had pizzas, mac & cheese balls and fish & chips and these seemed to be enjoyed. Would I return? Probably because it’s close to work but I wouldn’t order the chicken salad again.

Good view, clean and laidback — reminded me a lot of the new improved Breakwater Tavern at Hillarys Marina. It wasn’t the best thing in the world — but it was really nice to pop in after work for a nice tall glass of beer. The only thing that doesn’t make me give it a 4 or 5 is that it doesn’t have any particular charm or character that makes it individual.

A short walk from the Canning-Bridge train station… or an even shorter walk from the car park. A lovely art-deco building which has been revamped and developed to house a luxury apartment complex. The bar /restaurant itself has a nice modern clean feel whilst still staying in touch with its heritage. Food and Drinks are pretty standard for this type of establishment, compare it to any popular pub /hotel /bar. In the evening you will find the place packed to the rafters with FIFO(fly in fly out) workers which is a bit of a put off.

I was lucky enough to receive a complementary voucher for the Raffles, which I decided to use for our wedding anniversary dinner. We made a resevation for the Deco restaurant. We were given a fantastic table near the windows, which gave us beautiful views of the river, unfortunately it also gave us prime views into the neighbouring apartments. Besides that the décor was very classy and still retained the heritage feel of the building. The staff were extremely attentive which was fantastic as I hate having to try and wave someone down for a drink. The staff knew the menu off by heart and were able to recommend a decent drop of wine to go with dinner as well. Portion sizes were of fine dining sizes so expect to have at least 3 courses, but the positive is that you have more time to relax and chat with your dinner guest. All courses arrived promptly and all were unbelievably good! Top marks to the chefs as the presentation and quality has got to be the best I can remember from any establishment. I had some credit left after dinner and they were more than happy to transfer this to the lounge bar, unfortunately I made the mistake of not reading the fine print on the drinks menu and ordered two bottles of champagne thinking they were $ 30 a bottle but later found out that in fact that was the glass price, so $ 320 later I was disappointed that the bar staff down stairs did not confirm this before opening the bottles. Obviously I paid for them, but I do hope they update the menus so this doesn’t happen to someone else in the future as $ 530 for two for dinner and drinks is a little on the pricey side if you ask me. Fantastic place to go for special occasions, and definitely somewhere you should be sober when ordering off the menu ;)

Located close to Canning Bridge Station, a small walk across the bridge sees us to a bar located next to the riverside The view of the river is fair enough However this bar is more of a more mature demographic, the music is all cheesey 80s dj music. And the patrons are fairly stuck up. It also costs a fair bit for things

½ Price Pizza Wednesday The Raffles is a pretty ritzy kind of pub with decent river views but it all comes at a cost. I went there last night with some mates and while the pizzas were quiet nice(chicken tandoori and meal lovers) we couldn’t help but agree on not wanting to get them on a different day at full price. Nearly $ 30 for a pizza? Really? The service is pretty decent to be fair and you have a choice of going to the bar or getting table service. If you go on the Wednesday night head in before 7pm if you can so you can get a table. Its not really that enjoyable a venue when you have nowhere to sit. One grime about the table service is having to give a credit card which usually results in the individual getting home and then remembering their card is behind the bar. All the drinks were decent(the cocktails that were ordered) but you can’t help but think you are paying a lot more than you should be for what you are getting. There is a peculiar type crowd at the Raffles and it might not be for everyone. Having said that on a Wednesday night on a nice summer evening its not a bad spot for few drinks and a meal. Just be aware there are LOTS of other options that will be much cheaper.

Located on the Swan River on the corner of the Canning Highway in Applecross, Raffles is a breathtaking white two-storey art deco building. In 2002 a nightclub owner and property developer wanted to knock the building down, but luckily it was successfully opposed by the Art Deco Society of Western Australia. It is such a beautiful sight to see the building as you are driving over the bridge from the city. The recent(5 years ago) refurbishment of the inside of the building is very sleek, but still somewhat in keeping with the building’s original style. The beer garden area doesn’t actually capitalize on the view of the city which was very disappointing on my first visit. It’s the same 20 – 30 year old crowd you find at Botanicas, young girls and football players. There is a half price pizza night on a Wednesday, but you can’t move at all due to the crowd of people, so it’s not enjoyable. My recommendation is to go to Raffles when there’s no crown and also enjoy the stunning building from afar when you’re driving in the area.
