We arrived five minutes earlier than our booked time although both of my cousins were already there ahead of time! The staff provided the best table in the house which was a communal table located at the back of the outdoor area. It was a beautiful table with a backdrop of hanging plants, also within proximity to the water jars and other condiments. My cousin Erik ordered the Asado Iced Tea after the friendly staff explained that it was a special house-made iced tea mixed with orange and lemon, which was followed directly by Hubby. The iced tea was very normal unfortunately and close to being too bland, we weren’t sure if it wasn’t mixed properly by the staff member or not. I opted for the coconut water with chocolate which ended up tasting a bit like chocolate milk. The first ordered dish that arrived was the chili eggs. This was a combination of perfectly cooked slow eggs, rocket, feta, avocado and sourdough. I added the delicious house sausage which cost extra $ 5 to the meal. Most of our guests elected the meatiest dish in the menu which was the rump steak topped with chimichurri that was served with fried egg & hand-cup chips. I love the medium rare steak so much — although there were mixed feelings among us regarding the steak. All the steaks weren’t consistent in how they were cooked compared to what was ordered. While this isn’t uncommon at a number of places offering steak, Hubby didn’t seem to mind his steak and I hope it was just down to it being a busy day. My cousin Pia tried the mushroom croquette and judging from the size this dish can also be used as an excellent side dish. I stole one of her croquettes and it was really delicious especially with the creamy centered enveloped in crispy skin. Asado didn’t disappoint especially with great service and the beautiful outdoor seating. I will come back again next time to try their house-made Sangria and the lunch menu!

The food was Asado was great! My photography… not so much. L-R top row: Corn cobs with chipotle crema $ 14.00 The chipotle crema made this dish! I could’ve done without the fried onion garnish only because it was also on the ceviche and these dishes came one after each other. Bife de chorizo riverine sirloin 200g, chimichurri, salsa criolla $ 28.00 I haven’t eaten beef in almost six months but if you’re going to eat it, this is how it should be done. Cooked medium, it was melt in your mouth delicious. L-R bottom row: Grilled pumpkin, rocket, pomegranate, mint, black sesame yoghurt dressing $ 18.00 The combination of pomegranate with the black sesame yoghurt dressing made this my favourite dish. Ceviche, leche de tigre, avocado, crispy onions $ 17.00 A fresh citrus ceviche with creamy avocado, cherry tomatoes and topped with fried onion(goreng bawang).

I finally made it to Asado for lunch today! I love the set out of this place, despite being located opposite a major shopping centre, once you are inside you wouldn’t even know. There were lots of seating options, and although we sat inside today the courtyard did look inviting and would be perfect for a summer/autumn breakfast. Staff were really attentive and were happy to answer our questions, however given what we ordered(a scaled back recommendation of what the staff member recommended) I think they tend to be on the overly generous side with the suggested portions. Being lunchtime and wanting to try a few different dishes we concentrated on the shared street food and plates. Between two we selected the Jerk Chicken White Corn Tacos, Chovito: Rump Steak Sandwich and Mushroom Croquettes. All of our selections were delicious, it was pretty difficult to pick a favorite out of the three; the tacos were packed full of ingredients, the Mushroom Croquettes came with an outstanding sauce and parmesan cheese, egg and rocket salad and the Chovito was a very well constructed steak sandwich. I am very fussy when it comes to steak sandwiches due to the possibility that the steak used may contain fat(never a great surprise) but this one was perfect — the steak had a delightful seasoning and was so tender served in just the right amount of bread with lashings of roasted capsicum, rocket and a tangy chipotle mayo. Asado was pretty quiet when we arrived today at 12.30pm but slowly filled up. Parking is super easy and today parking in the Claremont Quarter Shopping Centre Car Park was free for the time we were there. At around $ 25 a head for food I found Asado to be reasonable priced given the quality and freshness of the food. My only other recommendation is that if you are heading here for lunch and you don’t want to leave smelling like a BBQ maybe sit outside or towards the front of the restaurant, not right near the kitchen. Looking forward to heading back here sometime soon for breakfast!

After hearing about Asado from multiple people, we happened to be in the area and popped in for a bite to eat. It was 11:30am-ish and I was chuffed to find out that they were doing their lunch menu as well as the breakfast menu. After deliberating for ages over what to order I settled on the set lunch menu I ordered the chorizo and jalapeño quesadilla to start and the chargrilled beef as a main. The set menu also included a glass of wine which for $ 40 I thought was great value. The quesadilla was cheesy and smokey and came with a very tasty guacamole — a big hit. The chargrilled beef came on a main bed of leaves with a great chimmichurri and was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the tomato adobo and beans which was one of the better huevos rancheros’ I’ve had! The food was prompt, tasted delicious and the garden area we ate in was very relaxed. Will definitely be returning to try their dinner menu!

Burnt Banana. That is all. I first experienced these guys at the taste festival, and was immediately blown away by this dessert. In fact, I was so blown away I booked dinner for Thursday evening. I hope they can deliver the same expectation as I could think of nothing more than to promote such amazing talent.

We were placed outside in the garden area for our evening meal with no light to see what we were eating! We asked the waitress if there was a light they could put on and they put these lanterns against the wall which did nothing. We ordered the beef and the lamb ribs and were completely disappointed. The meat was not marinated at all, the beef ribs were cold when they arrived at the table and were quite tough. We had sides of chips which had no salt on the top and heaps of salt as we worked our way to the middle of the bowl. The salt and pepper squid was very average, the sauce it sat in was flavourless. The beetroot salad was also very average. Wouldn’t go back here again.

Asado is a great spot in Claremont that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. No creature is safe at Asado and they grill an amazing number of creatures there to perfection. We had the chips, beef short ribs and green salad. All three were tasty and it was enough for two. The chips were hand cut which is always a nice touch. The beef was perfectly cooked and the chimichuri was so delicious! The salad was crisp and the whole experience was lovely.

If you love BBQ meat, this is the place to go! Recently attended a Meat and Malbec event at Asado BBQ and thoroughly enjoyed the Argentinian dishes. My favourite dish was the rump slowly cooked over a coal fired parrilla, served with chimichurri and salsa croilla. Make sure you order the beet salad and leafy greens to get through those meat sweats!

Love the atmosphere at this restaurant. We sat outside which was just perfect. We tried the chorizo, rump cap and the lamb short ribs dishes to share. Love sharing dishes as you get to taste everything and not fill up on one dish. And to finish the night off you cannot go with dessert which was amazing! Tried the Lemon curd, meringue, ginger bread & lemon thyme sorbet — perfect way to end the night. Loved the sorbet and crumb together.

Been wanting to try Asado for ages and on a wet winters day it was a sight for sore eyes! The coffee was delicious and creamy, the staff super friendly and my steak sandwich on point! Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu

After hearing so much about Asado, it didn’t disappoint. Creative menu that doesn’t try to do too many things, great service & the food came quickly.

I went here for brunch with two friends. I ordered the Chilli eggs. Chilli eggs are two poached eggs on sour dough toast and a rocket feta Chilli salad. The salad definitely had a kick to it and was simply scrumptious. My friend had scrambled eggs with bacon and she said her bacon was just the right amount of crispy. Their almond milk mocha was yumm and I’m not a fan of almond milk. Definitely going back.

Argentinian BBQ at a premium. Located in the ritzy area of Claremont Quarter, this new restaurant offering Argentinian bbq was a must try for us. We managed to get a booking the other weekend and headed in with high expectations after looking into their menu online. We decided on the Empanadas(great choices and packing a punch of flavour), the kingfish ceviche(methinks the chefs should stick to their specialty of bbq meat as this was essentially flavourlesss), and the rump cap(a clear winner for the night and the waitress’s recommendation). The bone marrow dish we tried had very little bone marrow with minimal flavour and was also a bit of a let down. The lamb rib was another light in the darkness here as it was quiet tender and flavoursome. It appears that maybe the chefs here need to concentrate on the basics. It does appear they know what they are doing with the darker proteins and concentrate on that. Its just a pity that prices associated with the food is in the range of Michelin star restaurants but clearly fails to meet those levels in terms of flavour in their foods that are not just the basic bbq meat offerings. Cocktails that we had with our meal were very good and brought out promptly. The service was also warm and friendly. There is definitely promise here but serious thought needs to be put into increasing the portion sizing of ALL dishes or alternatively decreases their associated costs. I was also slightly disappointed at the management’s decision of placing a group of four right next to Susan and I despite many other empty tables in the restaurant. I actually considered leaving through the meal as it was pretty awkward until the end of our dining experience because of this unexpected disturbance. All in all the red meat dishes are good but lots of thought needs to be put in here to ensure a loyal customer base.

Asado have a few tables up the front of the restaurant reserved for walk in’s, and a few shared tables down the back for those with the foresight to book online. There is two sections to the menu — share plates and parilla BBQ, the second of which consists of just meat on the plate. From the share plate section we tried the jerk chicken wings with cabbage slaw($ 18), the ceviche with market fish, cherry tomato, avocado, chilli and lime($ 16) and corn cobs with chipotle butter and coriander($ 14) — all dishes with fresh, tangy ingredients that I thought might complement all the meat we were soon to consume. They were great choices — the ceviche was perfect, with fish that melted in your mouth, strong tangy lime and a subtle hint of chilli. The creaminess of the avocado and the pop of the cherry tomatoes was a fun little party in your mouth as well. Chicken wings held their own, with a sizeable amount of meat on those bones, lots of flavour and a nice crispy skin. From the parilla BBQ section, we ordered the beef short ribs with chimmichurri and pickled green tomatoes($ 22) and the pork belly with persimmon purée and apple radish pickle($ 22). The highlight of this round was most certainly the pork belly. A thin, perfectly crisp layer of skin hid below it an almost liquid layer of rendered fat which was the business — there isn’t words to describe how good it was. The meat that sat below this was tender and fell apart at the prod of a fork, and combined with the sweet persimmon purée and the crisp apple pickle on top I was in carnivorous heaven. The beef ribs were also fairly pleasing, although they paled in comparison to the pork. My favourite part about them was the chimmichurri which was really flavoursome, but I would have liked to see the meat fall off the bones a little more on these ones. Last but not least, we tried the burnt banana with butter biscuit, dulce de leche mascarpone and pedro ximenez($ 14.50) and the lemon curd with meringue, ginger bread and lemon thyme sorbet($ 14.50) for dessert. The burnt banana dessert lived up to all the expectations that had been built up on social media. The marscapone was creamy beyond belief, the banana perfectly caramelised and the small dot of pedro ximenez provided an element of tartness to the dish. I think I was a bit enthusiastic with the banana at the beginning, as I found the ratios a little off kilter towards the end of this dish, other than that I couldn’t fault it. I really enjoyed the lemon dessert as well, and found it a good contrast to the creamy banana dessert. The lemon thyme sorbet was really interesting — definitely more thyme than lemon, I really got into but Ollie didn’t and I think it could be a very divisive dish between many groups! A great time was had here overall!

I went to Asado on Saturday night for dinner. The staff was friendly and very knowledgable regarding the menu. Being a complete meat lover I ordered the rump steak, with chimichurri sauce and criolla sauce. The meat was perfectly cooked, however the portions were very small portions for the price, the sauces were rather dissapointing, too much vinegar in the chimichurri, and the criolla sauce, was plain(diced tomato and capsicum). As for desert, I had the banana burn with dulce de leche(caramel) sauce, again the sauce was tasteless, my friend had the chocolate with chilli broulee, she said that she hardly could taste chilli on her desert. Unfortunately, asado did not meet my expectations, they need to do some improvements with the sizes of the portions, as well as with the sauces. Perhaps they are relatively new and maybe need some time to fix those issues.

Well this is a great option new to the Claremont area. I have been here twice and both occasions were great! Be sure to book, even during the week as it is popular and doesn’t have a huge amount of seating. The second time I went I didn’t book so four of us had to make a bar table work for dinner… just book! Service is good, the staff are friendly and happy to answer any dietary requirement questions. They also know the menu really well. The layout is open, including the kitchen, which makes it fun and gives it a buzz but noisy. The food is delicious, on both occasions tried a variety of dishes. The guacamole tortilla chips were a great starter. Other favourites were the hand cut chips with aioli and the corn cobs with chipotle butter and coriander. The chimmichurri steaks from the Parilla BBQ were all very good and the meat on the lamb ribs was so tender it just fell off the bone. Just when I thought that I was full, we were introduced to the dessert menu. We ordered one of each(three) and shared… they were delicious and extremely well thought through by the chef. I encourage you to go and enjoy the great food at this casual, buzzing restaurant. PS did I say to book? It’s super easy on their website!

Relaxing at a long table in the outside dining area, we all sat around talking for forever before finally we decided to get up and order. By then it was 11am so we had our pick of the breakfast and the lunch menus. Thankfully the food came out quite quickly which was reassuring to our rumbly tummies! My order choice of the tomato adobo with slow egg, beans, labne, guacamole and tortilla chips($ 18.00) was bright and fresh, jam-packed full of flavour. I love a good slow egg and have to admit it gives me a shiver of delight when I see all that yolk spill out onto the dish. The tomato adobo has a really lovely layered depth of flavour which is elevated by the zingy guacamole and the creamy labne — there’s also a bit of heat from the spices used. Pops of coriander round out the dish for some fresh elements — and I am pretty quick to dig in with my salty tortilla chips to scoop up the mixture. I really liked the use of the tortilla chips though I’m not sure if I would prefer this or a crunchy slice of grilled sourdough. This was a nice variation on the standard and offered some perfectly crisp texture into the mix. Other dishes ordered by my dining companions included: — Jamon y queso toast with relish($ 12.50) — Chilli eggs with rocket, feta, avocado and sourdough($ 18.00) — Brekky board; bircher, fruit, sourdough, boiled egg, jamon, relish($ 21.00) — House-cured salmon with kipflers, tartare and herb verde($ 21.00) — Lamb short ribs with mint yogurt and grilled garden greens($ 22.00) All reviews were extremely positive which was great to hear since it was a bunch of self confessed foodies present.

Really impressed. If you’ve ever had real Argentinian meat, with the proper spice rubs, meat cuts and cooking technique then you will seriously appreciate this place. It’s really on the money with food execution and presentation. Additionally, I’ll call it and say the best empanadas I’ve had made in Australia … And I’ve been to a Peruvian restaurant in Melbourne recently. The service was great too. The Czech waitress we had really understood the dishes, explained them well to us and to the girl she was simultaneously training. The wine list was authentic with some great Sth American wines and varieties represented. A place to go with friends and share everything. Wouldn’t recommend taking a vegetarian though: p

I was lucky enough to get my name on the guest list for the Social Media soft opening of Asado in Claremont. The night started with a glass of Argentinian bubbles. Golden on the eye, and an easy drop to drink, it served well as an apéritif to the food to come. They were sampling items from the menu, so we got to try small sizes of a range of dishes. To start with was guacamole with corn chips. I’m a big fan of homemade guacamole. This one didn’t disappoint. Creamy avocado, a little salt and chilli and coriander garnish. If the avocado is good, that is all that’s needed for a fabulous dip. Next up was Calamari with Chili Lime Mayo. The calamari was flash fried and perfectly tender. Something not everyone gets right, I’ve had more than enough chewy squid rings to back that up! The chili lime mayo a lovely counterpoint, tart and creamy all at once. The heat was fairly minimal, but not ‘missing’. A Jerk Chicken Wing with some slaw was next. The chicken was moist and tender, with again fairly minimal heat compared to some Jerk sauces/rubs I’ve tried before. Still flavoursome, but I was expecting a bit more of a punch. The slaw was pretty average and near on impossible to eat with the cocktail skewer everything was served with. Lamb ribs seem to be the Rib of the Moment in Perth, and these were an example of them done very well. I’ve been served lamb ribs that were little more than fat on a bone, but that wasn’t the case here. Big and meaty, with the fat perfectly rendered. The minted yoghurt that accompanies them was a perfect accompaniment. The meat-star was then brought out. You can see the meats smoking away on the ‘parilla’ grill in the kitchen, and when they brought out the Picanha Rump Cap, I started drooling. The quality of the meat is extremely evident. The beef was amazing. And the smoke grill method of cooking imparts it with the best BBQ flavour. The meat was good enough without it, but their Chimichurri was spot on. Bright with herbs, vinegary and garlicky, like all good chimichurris should be. This was brought out on a meat tray and my husband and I kept sneaking more and more bits. So delicious! Dessert was burnt banana with px mascarpone, dulche de Leche and shortbread crumble. It was essentially a deconstructed banoffee pie, but a brilliant one. The px marscapone was the highlight for me, whilst my husband raved more about the dulche de Leche. The wait staff on the night deserve a special mention. The girls that served our area were so wonderful and friendly, chatting with us about the food they were serving, they seemed genuinely excited about seeing people try and love the food too. They snuck us extra rump cap and burnt banana. If this was any indication of the service on a «normal» night, then it will definitely be a fun place to dine!

Asado means BBQ and these guys do it well! I was fortunate enough to head down to the soft opening so got a sample of a few menu items. The meats on offer were super tender, the standout being the rump. Desserts were creative and well executed. The fit out is nicely done. I like the separation of the front bar area to the restaurant area at the back. The kitchen is in full view which is always nice. I went for breakfast today and tried the Cronut which was quite pricey at $ 16! I’d be interested to try more of the breakfast menu and see how the sizing/pricing compares.
