So very average. It’s small… cozy you could say. Noisy and cramped would be my word choice. Staff are pretty friendly but you do get that ‘hurry up and eat and get out quick’ vibe. There was only 3 things on the breakfast menu. All 3 set you back the best part of $ 20. I chose the coconut hot cakes despite there being ice cream noted. Actual ice cream. For breakfast. It’s basically dessert. It was fine. The portion size was average. Flavour was average. Presentation was attractive I guess. The coffee was bitter. This is the second bitter coffee I’ve had in Sydney. I’m really not a Melbourne coffee snob. I’m pretty non-discerning I confess. But it was definitely bitter. Lucky I was having a plate of sugar for breakfast to balance the flavours. So yeah. I wouldn’t rate it. Sorry Sydney. You can surely do better than this.

I really like this little café. OK it is tiny and you might practically end up sitting in a stranger’s lap, but the food is just so good. They are really into local seasonal produce and using the best of what’s available to create interesting healthy food. It’s kind of like a hipster version of the Masterchef mystery bag. The staff are also really friendly and they do excellent coffee. Food 4 Coffee 4 Service 4.5 Ambience 3.5 Location 3.5 Noise 3.5

Came in for breakfast and absolutely enjoyed their poached eggs and truffle oil on toast but what really amazed my wife and I were the special coconut-buttermilk hotcakes. My wife feels they were the best hotcakes she’s ever had and I might have to agree. They were heartily thick and not artificially fluffy and the nuttella-espresso maple ricotta cheese and vanilla bean«serendipity» ice cream topping probably had something to do with how much we enjoyed them. We initially passed on this place because of the corny name but our first choice was closed and we’re glad that luck led us here.

The food is super fresh and extremely yummieh! Best brunch I had in Sydney so far! The focus is clearly on good food and great value ingredients, so don’t be distracted by the place or how it’s furnished. I really loved it!

On my street so very local! Locally sourced produce. My breakfast bruschetta was the gold star toast, great mélange of par cooked vege, salad, poached eggs, roasted vege, sour cream, was delicious! The coffee strong and great quality!

This coffee shop is just steps away from my place so it made sense stopping there and making a ittle coffee tasting. My bf got himself a cup of flat white and I got ice latte with ice cream(that was offered to me by the barista). I loved my cup of icy deliciousness that smoothly touched my lips with semimelted vanilla icecream and rewarded me with a hint of coffee aftertaste. The flat white was on a milky side with slightly too weak of a coffee flavour so we will probably go for something ice creamy next time we visit.

I don’t know who Jess is but if I had to guess she’d be some kind of minor indie princess, she’d probably have a nose ring and a heart of gold, she’d wear bare feet and have sun-tousled hair and holes in her jeans and a smile that could thaw out the Cold War. And if I was going to personify this café, that’s how it’d go. It’s small and charmingly ramshackle and chilled out and social all at the same time, it’s basically how I want my living room to be. The coffee is fantastic, as are the views across the new Central Park development, and weirdly the noise of the construction across the road doesn’t seem to come inside. The small menu is on the spendier side, but it looked creative & wholesome. Bring a book or a notepad to write deep thoughts in.

This little café is right next to a busy street and yet the rustic wood interior insulates it from the hustle and bustle outside. We were very happy with the attentive and friendly staff who greeted us as we walked into a packed café. The service in this place is really good. This place seem to be the go-to brunch destination for folks around here. They’ve got a seasonal menu that changes often(I was told). We tried the awesome smoked trout burger with avocado and beetroot. The bread was nicely toasted(crunchy but not hard) but we wish it was brought to us sooner cuz it got cold when we had it — more to do with the cold weather than anything. The food was good but a little too pricey for the portion. The chai latte was made with loose leave and brewed in honey infused milk. That was good enough to fill us and we didn’t even need to have dessert. I’d caution against the coffee though. We went there as a group of 12 and were uniformly disappointed with the coffee. Maybe it was the beans they used that day. It was slightly burnt and left a bitter aftertaste. I hope they improve on the coffee quality because everything else is so good. I would come back again, but might stick to the chai latte next time.

Unpretentious hole-in-the-wall café, offering up amazing food and amazing coffee, all with friendly service. The boutique menu changes every week, with wholesome, flavoursome food and a menu that’s not too big– but big enough to appease any craving or appetite. Some items on the menu are a little expensive, however the quality of the food would actually be appropriately more expensive. I will definitely be coming back here.

The unassuming Something 4 Jess has quietly become my favourite café in Chippendale. In all honesty, I had to take a break because I was becoming one of those customers who was there a little too early a little often. The lovely staff make it hard to stay away. I’ve been meaning to write up a review for weeks, but struggled to choose what to write about. The menu is seasonal and changes weekly, some samples include finely cut wagyu, crusted in dukkah and served on sourdough, honey-glazed bacon with fresh avocado, and mushrooms with ricotta. Almost everything comes served with sprinklings of sprouts and greens grown on the windowsill. The menu is small but there’s almost always something for everyone; however, those looking for your classic big breakfast should come prepared to settle for something a little different. The quality of coffee is not entirely consistent, but the molasses-infused sugar makes up for it. I could eat a jar of it by itself. There’s also a range of sandwiches on offer. A friend recently brought home lamb-shoulder on sourdough that had me drooling. I need to be strong, three visits in one day is just too much.

An awesome, cute and surprisingly cheap little coffee house. As a visitor staying in a friend’s room in Chippendale this is exactly what I wanted to find amongst the little streets, galleries and terrace houses. Charming and attractive staff ;) in a wood-filled, warm atmosphere just off the footpath. The Wagyu on Turkish and mushroom and avo on Turkish was everything you want. …a little too flavoursome dukka on the wagyu perhaps, but I think that’s more my tastes than anyone else’s. Highly recommended.
