I’ve been here a couple of times and each time has been good. It was to my surprise today that my order of Smashed Avocado for breakfast included only one toast covered with avocado and the other left plain. To top it off I found a poached egg on top. Me bad for not reading the fine print. Anyway the smashed avocado was great and left me wanting more, the egg not so good. Prices are a little high.

Worst experience of my life !!! Sat down with my granddaughter(8weeks old) the manager came up and said what do you think you are doing ?? I said I’m waiting for my daughter(at the checkout in target) then we will decide our order … He then told me to get out !!! He said people say that all the time, you just using my seat !!! Told him what a disgusting excuse of a human he is and left !!! So disappointing as never had this experience at other Shingle Inns !! But found a gem of a place further up near David Jones !!!

The Shingle Inn at Chermside is so hit and miss. But it was very much miss today. I ordered an «All Day Big Breakfast» but was told that I was unable to swap eggs out for an alternative. They«do not do swaps». This is one of the only coffee shops that has said no to such a request. I have found many other coffee shops and cafes more than accommodating with this request. Even the Brookside & City Hall branches of The Shingle Inn have been able to swap out eggs for me. But generally speaking, I find most of the suburban branches of The Shingle Inn underwhelming and terribly overpriced. I tend to go back, simply out of convenience, but regret it every time I do. If you want the more authentic Shingle Inn experience, go to the re-creation of the original store in Brisbane City Hall. It is still pricey for what you get, but at least it’s an experience and has that old fashion atmosphere for your money, and it has a lot more going for it.

This store falls quite short of all my expectations for a café and breakfast venue. I ordered eggs Benedict, see photos. The bread was supermarket quality sliced loaf bread. I could have very easily made this meal at home. I’d have to wonder if it’s genuinely worth $ 15. For that money I’d expect some higher quality bread and garnish that wasn’t just poorly looking sprouts(hello 1990). The coffee is decent and relatively priced but I’m sure local competition keeps them honest there. I would not order a dessert item from the café as prices seem high for the portions on offer. Quite disappointed with Shingle Inn, even the usually lovely arm chairs are looking a bit desperate for love here!

This place just asked us to leave. We had an order in place and I explained to the owner the kids will only eat this food. Yes it was from another shop He refused to listen and was just plain rude. in today’s society full of food intolerances you must listen and be tolerant. Well done you had an order for 5 and happy now you have bad press

Terrible service, terrible food and drinks. Ordered banana smoothies that were so warm we had to ask for ice to make them drink-able. We asked for soy milk for one of the smoothies. The girl at the counter appeared confused. They then told us they were all out, only to present a soy latte to us moments later(after our order) that did not belong to the table. Confused? We were too. Won’t be going back.

I so wanted to give them more than a 3 star review based on their reputation alone. I was greeted by a friendly staffer who maintained that level of friendliness during my Shingle Inn experience. I ordered breakfast while waiting for the shops to open. Maybe I should have reserved my experience for a morning tea instead? Breakfast was ok but not great. Coffee was tasty but went cold quickly while I was waiting for my meal. Next time I’ll try cake.

It is ok. Average. They have got my order wrong on more than one occasion. The toasted sandwich was a bit squashed and had far too much butter oozing out making it soggy. However the cakes and biscuits are amazing. I would give it four stars for coffee and cake but two stars for the lunch meals. We have ordered large birthday cakes from them on a few occasions and they were fresh and tasty. The butter cakes are my favorite

I’ve been a fan of The Shingle Inn since way back when Chermside was the most devo shopping centre in the city of Brisbane. They have always had a massive selection of cakes, pastries, banging snagas and top-notch bean drops. The only thing that has changed for the Shingle in is that its got so popular that its been branching out all over the country spreading its crack for sweet tooth’s everywhere. If there’s a birthday where I’ve been nominated to provide the cake, I always pre-order at the Chermside store and make sure I buy one of their vanilla cupcakes to mung on down before I head home. The Chermside store is always full(see photos) but the staff are really accommodating and friendly. Sometimes it takes a little longer for your orders to come out but when its placed in front of you its worth the weight. I’ll just leave you with a bit of advice, if you’re going there and you see that the tables are packed with the late middle aged and elderly, order a take away, cause them folk ain’t moving too soon.
