You know how large shopping centers can get crazy busy and noisy? Not always ideal when your hungry after tramping around the shops for hours. Sure you can try the foodcourt, if you’re happy to bump elbows with strangers and try and negotiate the tiny table space with your friends. My rather low opinion of shopping centre dining has been revitalized by Café XS. It is still in the middle of a Westfield, but the layout and comfortable seating has more of a café feel. The menu still has plenty of chips and nachos if you feel the need but the panini is to die for. I love the chicken avocado and cranberry sauce combination plus a chocolate milkshake. Yum. Go spread the word! You CAN have a nice meal near the foodcourt.

This is the place I come to clog my arteries. Not because the food here is all hugely fattening, but my favourite dish is. My must-have is a deep-fried tempura fish burger, with lettuce, tomato, avocado and tartare sauce($ 11.00 — if you want chips and salad you need to fork out another $ 4.00). But it’s melt-in-your-mouth magical and probably one of my favourite burgers. Ever. I find that truly fattening things often are amazing. And the feeling of naughtiness you have with every calorie-laden mouthful? I kind of get off on that too. It’s not posh(you order at the counter) and it’s in a Westfield, but the way it’s designed and laid out, it feels more like a mini-restaurant. Which is another plus, because my pet hate is eating in busy, open plan food courts. Now excuse me while I go and wipe the drool off my face…
