I love a good hot chocolate but rarely order them because they’re often too sweet. Not at Koko Black though. Here the hot chocolate is superb — rich and creamy and just the right level of sweet. If anything, the large serve is a bit too rich for me to finish — but in a smaller glass, mixed with a scoop of the vanilla ice cream(the hot chocolate affogato), it’s just perfect! I always make a point of coming here at least once on every trip to Canberra.

Pricewise — $ 4 for a small cap. Wasn’t brilliant, wasn’t bad. Not too sure it was worth $ 4 for a takeaway. No large sizes… Was told by rival coffee shop $ 7 will get you a hot chocolate. No idea if it includes a complimentary chocolate as happens in many chocolate shops in Sydney.

Great coffee and service was ok. The chocolates looked fantastic, but we didn’t try any

Koko Black looks to be a higher end coffee and chocolate shop. I didn’t try their chocolate, but did come multiple times for their coffee. Drinks: — I would definitely recommend you try their Iced Coffee! It’s pretty much ice cream, honey, slathered with espresso… a large cup of heaven. Can’t forget that it’s topped with chocolate shavings :) — I’ve also had their hot drinks — Soy Flat White(for non-Aussies, this is pretty much a latte w/less milk and more espresso) Seating: — There is ample indoor and outdoor seating. If the café is closed, there is an area outside the door to queue.

Saturday night after dinner stop for something sweet. I had a soy belgian dark chocolate which was amazing. Also bought some choccies for the family back in sydney as Koko Black is from melbourne and Canberra is as close as they get. Definitely should call in if in Canberra.

I dropped by here on a morning off to indulge and it was wonderful! I had the signature cake, and shortly after ordering I was given samples of truffles to try while they prepared my cake and drink! When everything came out it was all beautifully presented, and tasted amazing too! The service and atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. Would definitely recommend for desserts in Canberra.

Our favourite café! I just love the location, the romantic atmosphere,(the French décor is just gorgeous) and the service is almost always great. We regularly meet here with friends for a coffee and catch up, and often a sweet treat. There is often a wait for a table, but the staff do try and attend to you quickly. The Belgian hot chocolate is divine, but mostly we enjoy a cappuccino topped with real chocolate shavings. Their dessert menu changes seasonally, but usually there are things like chocolate tarts, pastries, small cakes and of course their handmade chocolate pralines. I recommend you try their salted caramel chocolates!

I always make it a point to drop by Koko Black every time I’m in Canberra. The pralines are to die for! I myself love caramel-y type things so I always go for the dulce de leche and caramel ones. Yum! I dined at the café for the first time last week(I used to just order chocolates.) Great experience! I found out that chocolates are cheaper if you but them in-store. $ 1.90 to $ 2.10 take away, if I remember correctly. Anyway! My friend and i shared their dessert sampler which had chocolate ice cream, mousse, florentines, 2 pralines, and a brownie. They were ALLAWESOME. Seriously! No complaints there. Getting the sampler was a great idea for us – we had been contemplating to getting the brownie & mousse separately but in retrospect that might’ve been too much for us, coming from a huge dinner. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely be back to dine in-store in the future.

Handmade choccies, good coffee but do yourself a favour, skip coffee and order the chili hot chocolate. Sounds weird but is absolutely fantastic. If you try it and aren’t impressed, let me know…
