I’ve been to a lot of chinese restaurants, some are better than others, most can agree with that. Prince Room is better than a few I have recently been to. The place is not big but it’s quite popular so you might want to book in. We had the typical dishes but there was one that stood out for me, the crispy beef ribs, there aren’t any bones in this dish for those that struggle with chopsticks and fiddly food but this was delicious, it comes out to your table wrapped in foil which is then lit on fire. Have this dish if you are visiting, I highly recommend it. Service is good and quick, we were never waiting long for anything to arrive, drinks or food. I will be back here soon, it’s a short walk from home for me which makes it all the more dangerous.

This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant. I’ve schemed and searched around Adelaide but struggled to find much quality around the eastern suburbs area. Prince Room is spacious and can seat a decent number of guests. The design and the fittings of this place may seem a tab bit dated, but they’ve done well with being decorative with pictures on the walls and ceiling hangings. I go here every so often. Once a month at least for dinner with a group. One of my favourite dishes is the satay chicken dish. The chicken always tastes fresh and not chewy and over-cooked, and the sauce is amazing. On the menu its described as spicy, but it’s actually more so mild. I would also never go by the Lemon Chicken or Honey Chicken dish. They’re served with crispy chicken breast drizzled with the perfectly done sauce. When banqueting with a group although, as well as ordering rice, ordering a side or 2 of steamed vegetables may be ideal as a lot of the dishes don’t seem to come with vegetables. Apart from that never had a dismay dining at this charming Asian restaurant.

We came to this restaurant with a friend who has dined here for many years. Stepping inside reminded me of the Chinese a Restaurants of the 80s. The staff were great and friendly, the food fantastic. We opted for a banquet, which I haven’t done for years. The food was all very good, extremely generous sizes, we could not eat it all. It was friendly, warm and comforting, good Chinese food, the sort we are all familiar with and take comfort in.

Nice variety with sizable portions. Good taste. I don’t usually eat much Chinese food but this could be somewhere I return.

This is our favourite Chinese in the area. The food is top quality, the service is always friendly and the restaurant has a nice kitsch ambience. Meals are prepared lightning quick. Our favourite: Roast duck with pancakes and cucumber. Great for take away too.

I realise now that for the past four or so years, I’ve been misnaming this restaurant — we’ve always known it as Princes Room. Regardless of the name, the food is just downright good here — the menu features all the favourites, chicken & cashew, beef & black bean sauce, honey king prawns, etc, but also some deeper dishes, kung po chicken(lashings of whole flamed chilli’s) and kway teo(my favourite flat rice noodles with a thick black sauce) Décor is also classical chinese restaurant — huge fish tanks featuring gigantic goldfish swimming back and forth, red and gold trim abounds, and you can have a nice big table with a lazy susan to help share your dishes around. It’s worth noting that even when the house is quite empty, there is a steady trade in takeaway — it’s pretty clear Prince Room is one of the more popular chinese offerings in Campbelltown. Parking is a little tight on a busy night — there’s off street parking out back, turn left just past the building, but it does get full and can be a pain to turn a big car around in — luckily the side streets aren’t permit only like so many in the city, so you’ll be able to park and take a stroll back. I love the food here — it’s simple cuisine, but they do what they do so, so well. Crispy duck is full of flavour, and like it should be, crispy. Sizzling platters turn up sizzling like they should. Singapore noodles are rich and rewarding and the curry flavour doesn’t overpower the dishes you eat them with. The batter on the honey king prawns is light and crisp and the honey is sweet and glossy again without being too much. Prince Room offers you a sample of exactly how chinese should be done — and the pricing reflects excellent value for food this good.
