Ties and Whimsy specialises in one of a kind and custom accessories. Our range includes ladies necklaces crafted from vintage textiles, birdcage veils, lace collars and mens ties. All of our designs are hand crafted in our Brisbane studio and one of a kind.

History

Established in 2011.

Ties and Whimsy was founded in 2011 by designer Alisa Newey. Alisa designs a range of accessories which were originally available though the Young Designers Markets in Brisbane and have now expanded to stock a number of boutiques around Australia.

Business Owner

Designer Alisa Newey is inspired by creativity and innovation. Alisa launched Ties and Whimsy in 2011 as an exploration of how every day objects can be turned into something unique and beautiful through good design. Her range began with one style of ladies necklace hand pleated from a vintage tie and has evolved into a range of ladies and men’s accessories which have been featured in sustainable magazine Peppermint and Undress Brisbane Sustainable Runway.

Alisa has a background in Architecture and a Masters in Visual Arts which lend her individual style a designer edge. Alisa loves to create and is constantly working on new styles and ideas.
