This is definitely my go to place for delicious and healthy Lebanese food. Located on the Brunswick side of Lygon st, this modern Lebanese place is a vegetarian haven. I have been there a couple of times and must say that their vego dishes are way yummier than their meat ones. Our staples are their trio of dips served with crispy and non crispy bread, DIY falafel, tabbouleh and their rice stuffed zucchini. Delish!

Teta Mona is a very interesting twist on Lebanese food. Taking the traditional and serving it up in a less traditional fashion which in my opinion was actually really great. Don’t go in expecting a truly traditional Lebanese dish but do expect something delicious. Seeing as there where 7 of us we opted to get the banquet menu where we got to select a variety of dishes to share and it was plentiful. We had the mtabalaat, fool, cigara bil lahem, kebe dumplings(a vegetarian option), Kafka and baklava as a desert. It really was all good, at $ 34 a person it was a little on the pricier side of things but in the end we enjoyed ourselves and where able to take some home. Do try it!

As a vegetarian I would never visit this place… Actually I probably wouldn’t visit it even if I wasn’t. My partner and I ordered 3 dishes to share. The pastry envelopes were the best thing we had but they were mouth size bites and the tomatoes served along side it weren’t even ripe they were still white. Felafel DIY– probably the worst felafel I have had in Melbourne and I’ve tried alot. It was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The olives served along side the dish were obviously jar olives and were severely bruised and dry, the pickle was limp and the tomato again was not ripe. It was as if all the food had been prepared 2 weeks prior and sat in a bain marie and had the chance to dry up and shrivel. We also got the ‘home made’ lemonade tasted like off lemons, you know when you cut a lemon and put it in the fridge for a week and it has the chance to go brown… Well yeah who wants to drink something that tastes like that? We spent $ 15 each and left with empty stomachs and the plates were still full. Not recommended.

Excellent Lebanese food. Nice atmosphere and good service. I enjoyed the chilled rose water.

Sitting in the mid-summer chill, a cup of fresh lemon and mint tea in one hand, and a spinach and feta pastry in the other, the only possible problem is regarding how much I’m going to eat. The answer? A lot. Get in early if you want the best selection of pastries – some are only made for breakfast, and might not be any left by the time you get there for dinner. Waiter’s recommendations were all excellent and delicious. Follow their lead!
