What’s not to love about this place? The bread is awesome. The staff friendly & know their products. Oh. One complaint. They don’t do their focaccia’s on weekends anymore. Boo to that. Love love love Iggy’s!!! Thursday’s are my favourite where the Serbian lady makes her pita. Apple, sauerkraut, pumpkin & feta, spinach & feta & whatever else this beautiful lady comes up with. I’ll taste everything of hers!!! Although Iggys aren’t officially open on Mondays, there’s work going on and the doors are open. There’s leftover bread which is sliced. Cost is half price + slicing & packaging fee. There’s an honesty box for you to leave your money in there. Other products are available for purchase. Best of all, the staff are happy to chat to inform customers on What’s happening. I feel so fortunate to be able to live so close and small it a go-to local. Sooooo unpretentious. Rate in the Eastern suburbs!

A little hole in the wall in Bronte — I don’t think you can find freshly baked bread better than this! On a Saturday or Sunday morning you will find the queue out the door stretching along Macpherson street. Get here quick before they sell out! Their traditional sourdough loaf is as good as Bourke St bakery however the cranberry pecan and raisin pecan bread are my favourites. SOGOOD. They also sell amazing honey — look for the jar on the shelves to the left that says Miellerie leatherwood honey. Goes perfectly with fresh bread and butter.

The breadmaking is wonderful but a little too expensive. Iggys bread seems to be some kind of status symbol now. lots of try hards queue up outside on a weekend morning. hilarious to watch!

The poppyseed bagel toasted with vegemite and butter — delicious. Well worth the early morning wake up trek. The raisin Sunday special was ok — I think Sonoma and Bourke St Bakery do these better but I’ll definitely be back to Iggy’s. It’s a delightful little store in Bronte next to a great café too. Friendly staff who serve you and you can see the regulars coming to buy their bread. I’ll try the sourdough bread next time!

Iggy’s is a delightful little hole in the wall bakery selling, very possibly, Sydney’s best sourdough. Each day has a different specialty bread(don’t miss Sunday’s amazing fruit bread!) or you can simply get their wonderful sourdough(super crusty & crispy on the outside — delicious & soft on the inside) which is baked daily. Their baguettes and bagels are not totally up to scratch(I’m not sure anyone does quality bagels in Australia and the baguettes are really just a sourdough bread stick, not a traditional french baguette) but we’ll forgive them these minor foibles because of the perfection of their sourdough. Get there early on the weekends as they are often sold out by 11am. Also be prepared to stand in line waiting for up to half an hour, but don’t worry, it’s totally worth the wait, and you might get to chat with the odd Sydney celebrity, patiently waiting for their Iggy’s bread fix. Open Tues-Sun 7am-4pm.
