The restaurant itself was colourful and well decorated with polite and helpful staff. I ordered the Hidalgo(a beef enchilada and a chicken enchilada with beans and rice). The enchilada’s went well with the bean mix and the beef in particular was very tender, on the other hand the rice was over cooked, flavourless and just unpleasant to eat. Decent Mexican food but nothing to get excited over.

This was my second time to The Aztec, I had been here around a year ago with the same friend that I went with this time. Last time we went for Dinner & this time it was the half priced lunch. The first time the Fajitas really hit a cord with me, they were delish I was in love & was looking forward to the next time. Unfortunately this time they weren’t so good. Between us we order a Beef & Chicken Fajitas each and shared, the chicken was slightly better than the beef but overall they were fairly bland. I ordered one pulled pork taco which was yummy. If I went back I would settle for the Tacos however somehow I don’t think I will be back — slow service combined with bland food — it wasn’t really a winner for me unfortunately.

The best pork ribs I have had for a very long time. Never had such meaty ribs, had to look hard for the bone! Sauce, rice and salad also really tasty and well made. The half litre of Sangria was also delicious and great value. The only criticism was that the ribs took a while to arrive but I am on holiday so who cares! The location is a great spot to sit and watch the world go by.

The Aztec is a great place to go with your friends and enjoy a nice meal. Serving both traditional and slightly more westernised versions of Mexican food — it’s a win-win situation. There is plenty of seating, but don’t let this fool you — a friday or saturday night can leave you hungry if you don’t make doubly sure and secure a reservation! Better to be safe than sorry! Most of the tables will sit 4 people minimum whilst others can cater for up to 8 – 10 people! Further more, if you have a big group, the staff will happily move tables around to suit your group :) ONTOTHEFOOD! Yum, yum, yum. Everything i’ve had there has been amazing. Beef, chicken, even fish. All delicious. My favourite above all is actually something really simple. #26 — Texcoco. 2 Beef burritos, frijoles, and a side salad(no idea how, but the dressing for the salad, awesomre again). Not once have i been disappointed coming to this restaurant. Lunch time is usually a bit quieter and with half-priced lunches(average $ 13 per meal) Monday to Friday you can’t go wrong. The restaurant is decked out in some really cool artwork and statues and the painting on the main wall is fantastic. They’ve put some good effort into this place. The ONLY reason i wouldn’t give 5 stars to this place is because i believe to give a 5 star rating to a restaurant you need to have 1. Awesome food, 2. Awesome service, and 3. Awesome prices — all of the time. If they can afford to do half-priced lunches Monday to Friday, they can probably do their regular menu for just that littttttle big cheaper. Thats me though! If youre prepared to pay a little more for some tasty tasty tasty food — THEAZTECISTHEPLACETOGO!

This is a little mexican restaurant located in the main food court of surfers… colourfully decorated and a vibrant flair. We went there for dinner and the service was slow; eventually we had to wave someone down because we were so hungry! We ordered some chill con queso… which tasted like warm cream cheese with some spices… not really a proper chili con queso… it would have been awesome with more chill! I ordered the vego enchilada which was served with crunchy rice and beans… the crunchy rice was great… the enchilada was pretty average but still mexicany enough to satisfy. We also order some sangria but it wasn’t the best recipe… very dry. My hubby had a piña colada which was pretty good though! The serves were huge and I couldn’t finish it all so great place for hungry growing teens! Maybe go again… maybe not… I would probalby try somewhere else next time I felt like Mexican.

I became a big fan of The Aztec along time ago when they started promoting half priced lunch Monday to Sunday. Recently they have changed this to Monday to Friday. It used to be the best place to go to on the weekend to have a great lunch at only half the price. Aztec and Montezumas do the same menu. They have a great range on there menu and have vegetarian options as well. They also have introduced a new express lunch time menu where most the items are around $ 10. some items include a takeaway hand held burrito and mexican taster plates. The staff are always friendly and help you out with any questions you may have. They have a fully liscenced bar and have a full cocktail menu. it’s great for lunch(Mon-Fri 50% off) and for dinner.
