Probably my favourite restaurant in Brisbane. I usually fill myself on natural oysters, mussels with salsa, smoked salmon with capers and red onion. But their hot foods are also very nice(and I usually have some of their baked fish). The dessert selection is outstanding, and such small portions you can try many different types. Great value.

Place is overrated and it’s overpriced. Honestly the buffet was not that great. I have had better buffets. They even charged 12 dollars for a bottle of water. It was a nice atmosphere, but not worth $ 170.00 for 2 adults and 1 child.

The best buffet in Brisbane! The smoked salmon from the cold starters was superb. Tasty and tender with not a single tough edge, just how it should be. I love the chermoula potato salad and the red cabbage coleslaw from the selection of salads. I had the onion sourdough from the boulangerie and it was out of this world. It was soft and tasted just like caramelised onion! I had this with a generous pat of butter. I love butter. I would have had more of the onion sourdough if I hadn’t feared filling up on bread before getting around to the other offerings. The Indian section was particularly enticing and I helped myself to lamb rogan josh, curried vegetables and basmati rice with some pappadums and a spoonful of cucumber raita. Everything was superb and I loved how the pappadums had visible bits of cumin seeds in them and were not oily at all. From the other warm dishes, I had the barramundi in a creamy dill sauce and the Arabic chicken. Both dishes were delicious and I would have them again. Dessert was a foregone conclusion and we made our way to the dessert section. I spied ice cream, and being a 6 year old inside, decided I would definitely have some. There were four flavours on offer and I chose the mango sorbet and the macadamia nut ice cream, which I topped off with M&Ms. Because. Who can go past M&Ms? After the ice cream, I returned to collect a number of the mini desserts my friend had recommended including the champagne and berry jelly and the éclair. I also picked up a sacha torte on my way back to the table. Divine, everything was just divine. The éclair took me by surprise as my first bite revealed a caramel cream filling instead of the expected custard. Superb! I would have the champagne and berry jelly again in a heartbeat. I would definitely return to Thyme2 for the buffet and recommend it to my friends.

If you are looking for the best buffet breakfast in in south east queensland, look no further. As a mother of a few hungry boys i am always checking out ways to fill them up and so have done a few buffets in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Last Friday’s visit did not disappoint anyone. Beating even the comprehensive Jupiters Casino and the pricey Sheraton Mirage versions. Fresh and cruchy waffles and pancakes won over the kids and perfectly cooked eggs(even in the bain marie!!) and the tastiest ever hash browns won me over. Service also was also delightful with hot chocolates and green tea at our beck and call. We’ll be back.

If you are after the best buffet in town, then come on down to Thyme2. We have been here for the lunch buffet but this particular review is for their Christmas dinner. We decided to have our own Christmas this year and we treated ourselves to the fanciest place in town. We went for the Christmas Dinner Buffet at about $ 150.00 per person and, while very pricey, I think it was worth it. The food was just outstanding. Everything was so fresh and delicious — you really needed your stretchy pants for this one! The selection of food was amazing — everything from seafood, roasts, Japanese, Indian, Italian, Chinese, salads, breads, cheeses — I could go one. My favourite bit, however, has to be the ‘dessert wall’ — just amazing. They had a bout 20 desserts to choose from plus a chocolate fountain and ice cream. At Christmas, they do two seatings — one at lunchtime which is more family-oriented and the evening which is more directed at couples and very small groups. We plan on doing it again this year!

I was looking forward to trying Thyme 2 as a special treat before Christmas. I’m not sure why they call this buffet interactive? I think the only interactive part was when someone cut a slice of beef roast OR cut me a slice of turkey? The roast meats were just ok. Cooked quite well done. They didn’t have any roast veggies other than potatoes. Positives: They do have a good selection of food. There was a decent size salad bar, dessert bar, choc fountain, cheese station, Indian food, some sushi and a seafood section. Surprisingly, the Indian food was very good. They had Chicken Tikka and one other dish. They also had a paella pan going which I thought was quite nice. I enjoyed the choc fountain more than I thought I would. Negs: The seafood section looked amazing with the crab, huge prawns and oysters. But one bite of the prawns and it tasted a bit fishy? Not the freshest prawns I would say. The dessert bar was hit and miss. The crème brûlée was phenomenal! But some of the choc cakes and brownies were a bit dried out. Overall it was a good night catching up with one of the girls before Christmas. We liked the ambiance and that we didn’t feel rushed. We had a good table not too close to others. Wait staff were attentive when needed to be. The food was ok but nothing spectacular or «interactive»

First time trying the buffet dinner in Thyme 2 Sofitel was 2 days ago for 2nd anniversary day with my partner. We had the best night every! Location: the best location. Located in the Central Station. Easy access by train or bus. Price: dinner $ 69-$ 79, breakfast $ 59, not sure about lunch. The price doesn’t include drinks. But the drink prices are normal and affordable. Food: huge variety!!! Believe me! My partner and I have tried other buffet package in other restaurants and hotels around Brisbane and Gold Coast. This has been our most favourite. The price worth what you get! I’ve posted many pictures of the restaurants and some of the food. Check them out! Huge variety in starters, main food, SEAFOOD, and desserts. I cannot mention each of the food because it’s too many. Hehe Service: the best! The waitress was very friendly with nice genuine smile. She kept our table always clean every time and kept on refilling water without us asking for more. She always serve things for me first and then my partner. That is the correct manner of serving meal/drinks in restaurants, which is ladies first. My partner booked a table for this dinner and requested a special seating because it’s for our anniversary dinner. And when we arrived, we were placed in perfect spot in the corner, with great view, and feeling more private. It was the first great impression of the night. They did not forget our request. At the end of the night when we were enjoying our desserts, a waitress came with a complementary sweets plate from the chef, with candle and plate was written ‘happy anniversary’. That was really nice.(Check out the picture). This kind of amazing service will the one make us to keep coming back to this place. I’ll update this review or write another review if I try their breakfast buffet next time. Hopefully it’s as good as the dinner :)

I found this restaurant perplexing. It seems to want to be a high-end dining experience, and it’s priced accordingly, but I found it mediocre and slightly odd. I ate here about 10 times in February 2013 while staying at the Sofitel.(I kept going back because I was busy and it was convenient, and because the food itself was not terrible.) The good: * The food was fine. Not great, but perfectly fine. The mixed or neutral: * «Interactive dining experience,» LOLOL. * I saw the same staff people many times, and yet they always greeted me and asked for my room number as though we’d never seen each other before. I don’t want them to be my best friend, but it did start to feel a little Groundhog Day. * Things I ordered repeatedly were often made differently for no obvious reason. Cappuccino would come with/without chocolate. Bread would come one day in thin slices and the next in large chunks. A noodle dish would have bean sprouts and red pepper sometimes, and sometimes not. * Pepper grinder was crap: weak and didn’t put out much pepper. I only mention that because in my experience a good restaurant takes pepper seriously. * I often order two appetizers(one as an app, one as a main). When I did that at Thyme, until I learned to ask them not to, they would bring out both simultaneously. The bad: * Some of the serving staff do not speak very good English.(Couldn’t explain menu items or understand requests.) * Twice I ordered classic, ordinary, simple cocktails and the staff got totally confused. And, before-dinner drinks were regularly served 10 or 15 minutes after the food arrived. * The servers consistently abandoned me throughout my meal, delivering the food and then returning, much later, with the bill. Weirdly, nobody ever asked me if I wanted coffee or dessert. * The buffet(which I never ordered) looked tired: a pretty ordinary mix of cold meats and cheeses and seafood, with a few hot Indian dishes. An array of mustards was crusted-over in a way that was kind of confidence-diminishing. * The entire menu was laughably over-priced. The dinner buffet is $ 79/pp. An egg white omelette is $ 35, soup is $ 19, salad $ 29, steak $ 55. That might make sense if the experience were really good, but it is middle-of-the-road hotel food with worse-than-average service. Upshot: I found my Thyme experiences somewhat surreal. If the prices had been cut in half the whole thing would’ve made sense and I would’ve been happy. But the gap between what Thyme thinks it is(awesome) and what it really is(mediocre) is just bizarre.

This is our all time favourite restaurant. We have been dining at Thyme 2 since 2006. It is an interactive buffet, so you get to see some of the food being cooked in front of you! There is a large variety of different foods on offer, a large salad bar with many delicious salads, cold meats, sushi and more. A bread cart full of tasty breads. A fresh seafood bar, during the week it’s filled with prawns and oysters, on the weekend you will also find, crabs, bugs and more! There is a Indian food section, with curries, chutneys, naan bread and other dishes. Hot soups, roast meats and a ever changing array of different dishes. My favourite part would be the dessert bar, dozens of petite desserts from minature eclairs to pannacottas, mud cakes and tiramisu, an ice cream bar and a chocolate fountain with many biscuits, lollies and fresh fruit to dip! Every couple of months the theme changes and you find dishes, desserts and entertainment to suit. The cost per person for dinner and lunch ranges from about $ 59 up to $ 69, depending on what day and time you eat, they also have an A La Carte menu, but I have never ordered anything from it. If you have an Accor club card,(which we do) and dine as a couple you get 50% off the bill, kids under 5 also eat for free which makes it great value!
