Sofitel Brisbane

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I went to the spa here.
I ordered a cesar salad at the bar– it was just terrible, and took AGES to arrive.
I got to use the pool because I booked a spa service over an hour long– I couldn’t believe when I saw that the pool lounge chair cushions are DIRTY! Yes, they are white, and cloth– but come ON; this is supposed to be an upscale hotel!
I also asked for wifi; you have to PAY for it if you are not a guest.

Pay for Internet !!!
No USB ports !!
No power points by the bed?
It was a mistake booking this place… It’s run down
Staff were friendly… Good location… Bad view…
Internet slow and overpriced… $ 12.95 for to 2 hours and 200mb (must have been in the small print) then they want to charge you more… Really… Why don’t they charge me for my shower as well… Surprised there isn’t a time limit…
It was just a bad room… They don’t cater for good experiences.

Beautiful hotel !
We are currently here for a real estate conference and this has been our best location.
Very central location for Brisbane, close to the Train, bus and tram.
Lots of food stops near by.
Staff was helpful, although if you are booking a conference room be sure to negotiate the wifi connections before hand.
Little pricey and your usage runs out quick!
They have a lot of ballrooms available as well as Offices.
Happy with our turnout.

luxury hotel, I think not. the lobby is nice and it ends there. rooms are supposedly «refurbished» but definitely still smells like mold from the ass of a corpse. the bathrooms are dated and the shower surface in uneven, causing back pain.
our room had a door connecting to the room next door, as lots of hotels do, however, it didn’t have a dead bolt and could be unlocked from the other side (safety issue?!?)
Internet is $ 30 a day and doesn’t even work.
room service is ridiculously expensive as well ($ 40+ for a simple salad) and rest assured your order will get mixed up.
Not even remotely worth the money, having stayed at roughly 100 hotels this year (traveling job) I can safely say this one is a bit of a sham.
The basics are simply not taken into consideration and the result is overpriced garbage.

I only had 3 days here, but I regret my decision to leave! It was so luxurious, and being greeted with Bonjour everywhere? I am a big fan of that French touch! Impeccably polite service, topped off with a bed quintuple the size of myself, it was quite a treat to relax in the room. I really enjoyed how spacious the entire room was as well, not cluttered with too much furniture or decoration! A nice contemporary interior!
Now for room service — despite being quite expensive, one of the most expansive menus I have ever had the pleasure to order from, their fries stood out as one of the crunchiest yet fluffiest ever! Smothered in sauce… omg!
And their vegetarian pizza? Well… absolutely loved the generous topping of bocconcini that is all I can say! If you want to splurge a little on yourself, this is the place to go!

This review is on the conference facilities…
So if you’re holding a conference here, Sofitel provides 5 star accomodation but unfortunately an older style of conference facilities. It is definitely due for an update with heavy doors, and interesting balance of antique style furniture with cheap carpeted dividers. They use an escalator from the ground floor to the conference facilities but you would rather spend time on ground.
Staff were friendly and location is fantastic, above Central Station, right next to Spring Hill and a couple of minutes from Forttitude Valley.

Good hotel and I liked my room and breakfast was fantastic. The bad was the internet, way too expensive and I felt taken advantage of. Should be free at this standard of hotel

Inconsistently upheld standards in furniture maintenance. Now that I’ve approached this place with three different hats on, I feel as if I can review it from a stable perspective.
My hotel stay here was relatively impressive for a business stay. Was that marble in the bathroom, a spa bath? Yes, probably. A nice view over Anzac Square, why yes. And yet I couldn’t help but notice that both the valance and the ceiling had suspicious white marks on them. The fridges are quite dated, and some make a little noise, but are generally okay.
That aside, I managed to enjoy a fabulous sleep on the sumptuous bedding and an exceptional buffet breakfast downstairs the next day.
Last night I returned to the bar, however found the lounge chairs worn and grubby. We left to go elsewhere.
This place has some things that they do really well, but they need to pay more attention to detail. Unfortunately it’s these small missed details that affected the atmosphere for me, as it is just not expected in an establishment of this level.
That said, they really do try, and the service I have received here has been excellent.

Recently attended a birthday party mid week, group party. Wow great view… loved the position over looking the city lights of the adjoining building. The restaurant wasn’t fully booked but enough atmosphere. The food was buffet so you could go when you wanted and how many times you felt. The range and choice was fantastic! (im already feeling hungry while im writing this review!) I have already said for my birthday I can not waitto go back and to have at this place… only let down the wine list price, OMG the prices are HUGE so just be prepared to enjoy the food and just a glass of wine!

Location just couldn’t be better, the hotel is right above Brisbane central train station.

Stayed at Melbourne Sofitel before and a bit disappointed that the Brisbane Sofitel did not have any of the gadgets in the room (ipod speakers, central light control, bathroom light sensor) and no nespresso machine either. But hey we love the pillow menu, my partner enjoyed her pillow so much that she wants to buy the same one!
Room was spacious and my daughter really enjoyed the swimming pool and spa.
Great customer service.

I stayed at the Sofitel in Brisbane for a week in February 2013. It *is* pretty fancy-​pants, and I assume expensive. (I did not book it myself, and wasn’t paying.) I found it perfectly okay, but nothing special.
The good:
* Check-​in and out was fast and courteous. I had an easy early check-​in which I very much appreciated.
* The laundry service was excellent.
* In general, with the exception of the restaurant, the service ranged from excellent to okay.
The mixed or neutral:
* I did not visit the gym, but the spa and pool area seemed a little tired/​perfunctory: nothing special.
* For some reason, my room was made up at erratic times — the earliest at 9AM, the latest at 5.30PM. Occasionally this was a little inconvenient for me.
* One afternoon there was some work happening in the hallway outside my room, and I was surprised to hear the workers shouting up and down the hall for about a half-​hour while they worked. (Like, «yo Jimmy» type shouting.)
The bad:
* When I got calls in my room, the phone didn’t ring — it just lit up. The ringer was set to high but wasn’t outputing any audio.
* The internet service was a pain and I felt nickel-​and-​dimed by it: you had to renew every 24 hours, and when you hit a predetermined bandwidth limit you then had to pay an additional ten cents per MB for the remainder of that 24-​hour period. Even after that, I several times triggered a warning that I was using more bandwidth than the Sofitel felt was «fair play,» after which I think my speed was throttled. This has never happened to me before and it felt judgy and annoying. I wasn’t doing anything particularly heavy: mostly e-​mail and web browsing, plus I watched a few short videos.
* Also, you could only connect one device, and even if you were willing to pay more for a second device there was no way to do it.
* I parked in the hotel lot one night, and the concierge accidentally charged me for parking for my entire stay ($ 300) instead of one night ($ 40). (She fixed it instantly when I pointed it out, though.)
* The restaurant, Thyme, is absurdly over-​priced and the service is not good. See my separate review. My three-​star rating is for the Sofitel alone: if I’d factored in Thyme it would’ve been lower.
The Sofitel was fine for what I needed. But I would’ve been irritated if I’d expected or wanted a high-​end experience.

As a tradition, my friends have started doing a sleepover — in a hotel every time one of us has a birthday. This year it was my turn and my best friend booked The Sofitel. Bit fancy pants i’m sure, and fancy pants I thought it would be.
The newly refurbished hotel, boasted new carpets and newly refurbished rooms starting from floor 16 i’m assuming because that was the floor our room was on, and it just opened the day we were staying there. Feeling a bit spesh being the first ones to stay and experience the new beds and room, we were in for a bit of a surprise.
The beds were very comfortable, and to our surprise we saw a pillow menu. Bit posh! So we decided we would order a therapeutic pillow and a foam latex one as well as 2 V-​Shaped pillows for watching TV in comfort.
1. Our phone had no dial tone. I had to use my mobile to ring the front desk to ask for the pillows. They sent a tech up to fix the phone and he informed us after trying 2 separate sockets that the refurbishment may have refurbished over the phone connection because it wasn’t working anymore… upon further investigation and trying a new phone and cable, it seemed like the case.
2. The fridge was hot. Upon trying to see what our mini bar had to offer, we opened the small fridge to feel the warmth of a fridge that hasn’t been turned on flutter over our faces. Awwww!
3. The guy who tried to fix our phone had to turn our fridge on.
4. The pillows never arrived, but then someone from housekeeping came to our room with pillows we didn’t order, who then went to get us pillows we did order… who then never came back.
5. We had waited about 1 – 2 hours since check in by now so it was time for us to go out for dinner as we had a reservation… as we went downstairs, we went to the front desk and no one even knew we had a phone problem, or that we wanted pillows, or that someone told us earlier we may have to move rooms… that never got back to us. No apology was made, no compensation was given, we were pretty unhappy.
6. We got back just before 12 midnight and told the front desk, different person again who was also unaware of our situation that it was late, and we just didn’t want to move rooms anymore.
The next morning the charade continued, our requested newspaper never arrived and someone from housekeeping woke us up in the morning with a trundle bed we had never ordered from the phone we never had. He even told us ‘it says room 16**’ to which my friend replied… ‘well, it’s not us.‘
We checked out around 10:30am the next morning having talked to at least 8 people in the hotel about our situation, and although the pillows eventually did come, none seemed to know anything of the situation or communicated anything to anyone… the assistant manager on the front desk did apologize finally though and only after we asked, gave us free parking and offered to give us a free room upgrade the next time we were there. Bit of an ordeal, don’t get me started on the demister in the bathroom that didn’t work and the stained bathtub in the ‘newly refurbished’ room.
