The Sheil Collection

I work with glass, and so every time I see leadlights, stained glass windows or glass blown items, I gravitate to them like a moth to light. This is how I came to be at the Sheil Collection.
They have some incredibly beautiful glass blown vases and bowls in the window that I just had to get closer to. They’ve also got little glass ornaments like speckled glass sparrows ($ 75 each, and only the size of your thumb), some well crafted and very unique cutlery, teapots, and other assorted sculptures. There are some metal pieces in store at the moment that I’m still dreaming about.
The whole place signals high end folk art. From the art, down to the very last detail like the flooring which is arranged into a geometric pattern made up of clashing carpets.
The woman behind the counter is very warm and personable and will allow you to peruse items in the shop, pick them up (if you’re careful) and will tell stories about the pieces if you’re interested.
It’s well worth stopping in to have a look if you’ve got an eye for good craftsmanship and fine art.
