This retail gallery has a really beautiful range of Indigenous art and jewellery(and the regular boomerangs and didgeridoos). I was blown away as contemporary Indigenous art is so different to what we are taught about at school. They have works which ranged in price from $ 45 to over a mind boggling $ 100K! The sales person was knowledgeable and very nice, he took the time to educate me about the artists and their backgrounds. He was clearly a good sales person too as I have an amazing art work on layby and I can’t wait to pay it off and get it home!

I’ve always snubbed this conveniently located gallery precisely because it was on the mall. I assumed it would sell tacky imitation paintings, boomerangs and didgeridoos aimed at tourists. It didn’t help that it was a few doors down from an Ugg boot shop and across the road from a Duty Free outlet. While waiting for my friends the other day, I finally decided to have a mosey and was pleasantly surprised to find a wide range of paintings and only a few boomerangs. My husband who majored in art history told me that you can sometimes pick the experience of the artist by looking at the quality of the dots in the painting. Experienced artists make very precise, clean and closely formed dots. Well, I tried my best to scrutinise the quality of the dots but it’s like staring at one of those magic eye images. In the end, all I can say is that although they have a wide range, the collection slants toward traditional indigenous art. This is definitely worth checking out if you are a serious art collector but perhaps not so interesting for art enthusiast.
