A good example of a whole in the wall coffee shop; with some funk! If you are after a nice coffee and not to worried about food, and happy to listen to some alt-music while you wait you’ll be pleased. While people watching I overheard they are happy to tailor your coffee, want it extra hot, or cold, extra shot or speciality milk you can have that too for the usually modest mark up.

I’ve been here a few times now and they do a good, consistent coffee. My flat white last time had a bit more foam in it than I like, but that’s just nit picking, the coffee is really excellent otherwise. More importantly, they have such a funky space in a lane between three buildings, with their bright green patio furniture and chalk board with awesome messages on it. I can’t help but hang around for a bit whenever I come here. There’s something fun about hanging out next to a literal hole in the wall! As mentioned by others, they do have a 4oz cup size but if you just say«small» they give you the 8oz by default.

As you walk from Eagle Street onto Eagle Lane you will see a sign that reads: «There’s nothing wrong with staying small. You can do BIG things with a small team. — J Fried.» It’s fitting that the team behind The Coop show and tell us the virtues of knowing what can be achieved within a small space. The Coop, so aptly named, is a nook café in Eagle Lane that with any more than the three staff present on the morning I visited, well, I fear it’d feel like being in an overcrowded lift. But they dance a dance that gets things done and coffees out to eager office-workers wanting their daily caffeine fix. With a little time to spare it was actually quite beautiful to watch. The coffee itself — spot on. I admire that they also offer a 4oz. option for those of us not keen on a cup of milk. But, knowing their customer base in the surrounding office towers, there’s also a gigantic 16oz to top you up. For hunger pains there’s a small selection of cakes and toasts(avocado on toast, raisin etc) and then come 11am things get retro with the introduction of their jaffle menu. I didn’t get the chance to stay around for it but by gosh I will be back to try them out. Future visits will determine the consistency of the coffee these guys are busting out but on first impressions: there’s a reason there’s a line to order come 10am!
