It is a interesting restaurant. The taste of food is good but definately not the best. I ordered a tofu pork hot pot which is very nice but it is not as spicy as i imagined. One hot pot is suitable for 2 people to share because it comes with 2 bowl of rice. I also ordered a fry rice cake but i am not a fan of it because fish cake inside is sweet.

The food was reasonably good, but a bit lacking in the service department. The chive pancake was generously proportioned and tasty. The steamed vegetarian dumplings were subtly flavoured but slightly bland.

How deceiving is the small entrance foyer to this restaurant which leads to a staircase, which leads to a massive dining hall? A great selection for lunch all under $ 10 — perfect for a quickie work break. Service was quick and food was yummy. I had the Donkatsu Pork which was served with fries and coleslaw, a bit of a crazy fusion of east and west. I kind of wish I knew that the fries were included, as I probably would have gone for something a little more«authentic». It’s my fault though I wasn’t wearing my glasses, where it said… and fries… I actually thought it said… and rice. Never mind. My work buddy had the Bibim Bap which looked amazing, smellled amazing and was a wonderful winter treat served in a sizzling stone bowl. I am going to give that one a whirl next time.

Funny Funny was the first Korean restaurant I stumbled upon in Brisbane. After scanning their outside menu, I decided to go in with my dad and was instantly surprised by their décor. It’s reminiscent of the strangely hip but trendy restaurants that are popping up all over Korea, with a hint of an Australian feel to it. There’s plenty of room to sit and enjoy the décor and people around you. Not too many Australians here, so you know it’s legit. Contrary to the other review, ordering was quite easy. The menu has pictures, so if you’re really stuck, just point. The servers all speak pretty good English, but a phrase or two in Korean goes a long way here. The food, although outstanding, is pretty expensive by American standards. Go for the bar-style food as it will be the cheapest. $ 15 for a bottle of soju is the most I’ve ever paid, but it’s ok if you’re getting just one bottle. Out of the vast selection we ordered the following: — Chicken Skewers: Phenomenal. Lightly grilled in Korean BBQ sauce and glazed with a sweet creamy sauce. These go perfectly with a bottle of Hite. — Seafood Udon: Wonderfully prepared. Lots of seafood chunks floating around, delicious broth, and plenty of fresh udon noodles. The portion is huge, so it’s a good bang for your buck. — Bulgogi: Served with a side of rice. Also very well prepared. Typical grilled beef and nothing too special. Done just right. Banchan(side dishes) is plentiful: kimchi, potatoes, and macaroni salad(first time seeing this as a side dish o_O). They’ll be more than happy to give you refills. I’m sure there’s more authentic and traditional Korean places in Brisbane, but Funny Funny is great in its own way. It’s a quirky little place that would keep me coming back if I were a local.

This is an interesting Korean restaurant to try out. When arriving at the doors, you realise it is further up a flight of stairs and around the corner. It opens up into a nice restaurant floor. You don’t see many people dining on this floor. You have to walk towards the counter where a waiter will approach you and ask what table you are after. «Inside or Out?» I love eating outdoors when the weathers good. Initially we decided to be seated indoors, but it was far to humid and sticky in there that we requested outdoors. The staff seemed a bit annoyed at our changing tables, but I didn’t mind, because if you don’t want to be stuck eating spicy Kimchi in the heat. We are then outdoors and it was nice. Unfortunately outdoors they have a smoking area right next to the dining space, so smoke cannot be avoided when people are smoking. The only thing that separated the two areas is the two steps that lead to this extended version of the dining space. Horrible. When you look or smell past this, the ambience is otherwise quite nice. The tables have a buzzer for when you require a waiter, which is fantastic, because it takes away the pressure of trying to flag down a waiter. You get served water in what sort of resembles a sports bottle I used to bring to school, except a bit prettier and a couple of plastic cups. Ordering I found to be a pain. It is difficult to communicate in English with the staff, if you have complex requests or questions, I suggest getting the manager. Just my luck I found myself ordering exactly at 8:00pm and I desperately wanted the dinner special they have on offer. Problem was they stopped orders for this at 8pm. At first she said no, but I begged a bit more and she said she’ll check. I assume she went to the manager or to the kitchen to check it they were okay with it. turns out I got my request at 8:02pm! Funny Funny 0 — Jen 1. We ordered Korean BBQ and other Korean sides like Chicken gizzards. The Korean BBQ was okay. The meat was always sticking to the BBQ’er and no one checked to change the cooker like other places. It seemed I was to use the same cooker the whole time although everything’s turned charred. When it comes to Korean food in the CBD, you might find that there are better choices out there. But this place is still worth checking out, you might find it suits what you are after.
