Connect Café is a hospital-run café that is on the ground floor, outside/inside a Queensland Health building and is accessible to the public. They use Elixir coffee(and it’s a lot better than most of the coffee in the area), and do have Barista training, though there are often long waits for coffee — so plan accordingly. The food is pretty standard — a lot of fresh but prepackaged items from within the hospital are available — sushi, sandwiches(both gourmet and not), salads, fresh muffins, cookies, and drinks. Some hot food can be ordered fresh(they used to fill the bain marie, but they seem to be cutting down on fresh food), such as pizzas(which are perfectly OK!), to quiches, and burgers(the vege burger is vegan), as well as make-your-own-sandwiches, though they do seem to be focussing now on the prepackaged items. Note of warning: for some reason, the wedges are *terrrrrrrrrrible*. Teeeerrrrrible. It’s like they heat them up across the road, then re-heat them through frying over there. Truly dreadful. I can’t say a lot about this place — it’s OK — the coffee is OK — but I would rather go across the road to the also hospital run food court, where you have quite a few more options(including Subway and fresh sushi). Even then, there’s a serious lack of good food in the area!
