This place was superb. Don’t listen to anyone who complains. I travel a lot for work and this place is among the best places I’ve ever stayed. Large rooms and comfortable bed… the overall property is beautiful and pristine. The room was impeccable and the appliances were clean as well. The people who worked here were fantastic and the restaurant downstairs was great as well. Good location in the City. I had to go to ANU for work and it was very close. The mall is walking distance as well. If you want to see Parliment you’ll need transportation because the walk is about 55 minutes.

I’m not entirely sure about the experience or expectations of the previous reviewer because I was incredibly impressed by the Avenue Hotel on my recent stay there. It was recommended by a work colleague and I was down on a work trip so didn’t have a say. My room for a nice was $ 180 and my itinerary said that I was booked in for a King Superior View room, which could really mean anything but sounded perfectly fine to me. What I didn’t expect was a new, modern hotel room which was basically a small suite of rooms including a large separate living and dining area, a sizeable and well stocked kitchenette, and a modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower which had both a hand-held and a rainfall-style showerhead. I also had a balcony with a small table and chairs which looked out to the main road. Colour me impressed! Morrissey toiletries(no idea they’d branched out to that area) filled the bathroom and a Nespresso machine with complimentary pods was on the kitchen bench. Plenty of plates, glasses, mugs, bowls, cooking utensils and even a colander were found in the cupboards and there was also a large fridge, microwave, kettle and dishwasher. A stocked bar fridge was also in the room. The TV in the main room was huge and there was also a smaller one in the bedroom. As I said, the living and dining areas were quite large with the dining table being a full table which would seat 6 people. To say I felt comfortable in there is an understatement. I also connected to the WiFi and had none of the connection issues that the previous reviewer experienced… The hotel lobby is nice and comfortable and there’s also a guest area with couches and recent magazines if you’re looking for somewhere to chill out. Marble and Grain is the restaurant attached to the hotel(on the Mort St side) and there is both a bar and restaurant area there. We had our dinner there and I thoroughly enjoyed my Wagyu Rump and accompanying wine. In the morning I checked out the 24-hour gym and it was well equipped with plenty of cardio and weights machines plus a few yoga mats and exercise balls, although there weren’t any free weights. All in all, I highly recommend the Avenue Hotel if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Canberra!

First time in Canberra over the xmas /new yrs break… it’s a very interesting place. stayed at the Avenue Hotel. Most of the places we wanted to get to was only 15min away. Anyhooo back to the hotel… The GOOD… it’s refurbished … has a convenient location, room has a dual pin docking station for the 4s and 6. There’s a pretty cool bar /restaurant accessible via the lobby area… The BAD… wifi is none existent, doesn’t work, bathroom and décor… hmmmm each to their own. I personally felt it could be more modern. The UGLY… 2 singles joined together do not make a king size bed. Both single beds sag in! Very BAD! WIR? Nope. A local hostel or nearby love motel would be better. At least I know what I’m getting or can expect.
