Hyatt Hotel Canberra — A Park Hyatt Hotel is a major historical landmark landmark in the National Capital being the first hotel built in the city. Overlooking Lake Burley Griffin situated in the middle of 12 acres of parkland established since 1924. The hotel is 4 floors and consists of 253 rooms and suites. The hotel has been restored to its original 1920’s art deco magnificence.
History
Established in 1988.
As one of Canberra’s original buildings, it opened as Hostel Number 1 in 1927. Hyatt were engaged in 1988 to operate the heritage hotel, which was named Hyatt Hotel Canberra — A Park Hyatt. The 5-star hotel offers 252 accommodation rooms and is located near top Canberra attractions like the National Portrait Gallery, Questacon, National Gallery of Australia, Manuka Oval and the Australian War Memorial.

Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Mr Svensson brings to Hyatt Hotel Canberra — A Park Hyatt Hotel, 18 years experience with Hyatt in varying roles.
After graduating from the Hosta Hotel School in Leysin, Switzerland in 1991 he joined Century Hong Kong Hotel in various food and beverage roles which set the precedence for his career. Food and beverage positions with Hyatt Hotels in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan led him to become Director of Food & Beverage at Hyatt Regency Osaka, Japan.
General Manager at Hyatt Internationals Roppongi Hills Club Tokyo, Japan followed by General Manager of Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, Thailand in 2007. Mikael became General Manager for Hyatt Hotel Canberra in January 2011.
