With it’s street seating on Bondi Rd, Café Max is a great place to have a coffee as you watch the Bondi world go by. They serve up superb coffee and organic food here and everything is made with love. They’ve gotten into some serious renovations over the last year or so and it’s looking really funky and Bondi-​themed with a colourfully painted bar, street art around the courtyard seating out the back and some terrific photography on display.
Sunday afternoons they serve up paella with a live band but the best thing about Café Max is the muffins! Apparently Chris the owner got all his friends to get their Mums’ and Grandmother’s family muffin recipes and spent a weekend cooking each one and then market researching with his lucky friends. I’m not a big muffin eater but these really are light, juicy and amazing.
