This review is to talk about the Nutella ricotta cheesecake. Such a surprising combination of Nutella and ricotta works so well! It’s not too sweet! For a cake that serves 8 people the price is around $ 35 and for the large which serves 15 people it is around $ 50. They seem to always have it in stock, however you can call ahead to order. I recommend it, my only criticism is that they didn’t put enough Nutella: p

Pasticceria Papa in Bondi is the first Papa’s shop that is diveded into restaurant and pasticceria itself. I’ve been eating at both; however, today I’m gonna review the pasticceria. Papa’s motto is «Papa knows best» and it’s simply true. Everything you try has the same taste of what you can buy at an italian pasticceria. I always go for cappuccino, brioche and chocolate bignè(breakfast) and I’ve never complained once. I’ve also tried the savouries like mushroom arancini(looove!) and the«pizza al trancio». I’m really confident to give 5 stars for the food, but the staff let Papa down a bit, for this reason I gave it 4 stars. P. S. Papa’s best dish is the ricotta cheesecake… A must try!

Now, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say they were having an off day but let me just talk you through my 1 star rating. Firstly, Papas got 1 star for 1 reason only; you can’t write a review on here without giving a star. We went for Sunday brunch and I think that the staff must have had a «big one» the night before. From the disinterested girl on the charcuterie counter who took passive aggressive to a new level, to the brains trust waiter who attempted to give a scalding long black to my six month old at the table, to the lovely but clueless waitress walking in circles with a tray of two drinks(only one of the four tables had two people seated at it). It was like an episode of Fawlty Towers except without Sybil to steady the ship. And that was it basically, that’s pretty much all I can review. I would love to review the food but we didn’t have any. Not because we didn’t order any, we did! We love eating food when we go for a meal. We like to think of food as a massive part of the eating-a-meal experience. It just never came. Bearing in mind there were only four tables seated in the restaurant you can only assume that the kitchen were at the same party that the front of house staff were at last night. I had visions of four chefs in whites standing around a solitary chicken, waiting for it to lay an egg. 45 minutes with only a coffee, a bored 6 month old and a very hangry wife(«don’t make me hangry, you wouldn’t like me when I’m hangry… GRAAAAOOOW! HULKSMAAASH!!») to show for it.

Came here by chance as I parked in this building before doing my exploration around Bondi Beach. This place has a lot to offer, from savory to sweet pastries or baked goods to variety of meat choices. What attracted me first was the sample for focaccia. It was fresh and the dough was like a pizza base where it had a crusty outer layer. Bought one for less than $ 5 in a big portion too. I was expecting the skyrocketed price but my suspicion was wrong this time. After my meal next door, decided to go for a gelato break. Tried the mix berry flavored in the cup. Price wise it was decent. Another less than $ 5 for a scoop and additional $ 1 for another. The gelato corner has small seating area to enjoy the gelato. Taste wise, it was fruity yet sweet and sour at the same time and it melts in the mount pretty fast. For the bucks, it was a great place to munch on after meal desserts(gelato or cakes). Even spending less than $ 5 will entitle you to have a validated parking coupon or a barcode with validation on it. Unfortunately mine didn’t work and I have to pay after hours pricing. This place is definitely a gem hidden near Bondi Beach :)

Cakes and more cakes, macaroons, slices, tarts, pies and too many other items of deliciousness on offer. Small cakes to larger catering cakes(in a separate room). I felt like I was back in Melbourne visiting Brunetti’s in Lygon Street, or perhaps at one of Acland Street’s European cake shops. No this is Bondi! Adjacent to the café is the restaurant where you can dine. I must bookmark this for another time. I sampled Papa’s famous ricotta cheese cake served with a generous lashing of whipped cream. Out of this world delicious — just melting in my mouth. No I can taste why it is famous. Maybe I should purchase a whole Torta Di Ricotta to take home for later. Why not?
