Gladstone Store

As soon as I laid eyes on this place I knew I had to go and check it out — it was one of those classic corner stores, but with class. In fact, unlike many of them that you see around the place, it wasn’t covered in advertising, and it certainly didn’t have a massive 7 – 11 neon sign out the front either. It is a shame that it is hidden away in the back streets of Balmain though because if it was near me I would be down here quite often. Everything they sell appears to be home made or home grown, and they make some pretty awesome coffee as well. Okay, it isn’t a sit down café, but then again I haven’t seen many corner stores that have a sit down space in them (though they do have a couple of seats outside, which I took advantage of when I got my coffee). Great little place, and certainly worth visiting if you are in the area (though you probably already know about the place if you happen to live in Birchgrove).
