We had a family get together here on the weekend thought every thing was very average Got a lot of what we couldn’t do in regards to menu no changes to menu. To bad if you have food allergies Also got charged for cakage what a joke I think some cafes and restaurants need to have a think about charging for this if a grand Ma makes a cake for some ones birthday and then gets charged for that it’s a joke Was expecting some thing and in the end it was ok Not about to rush back

Love going to Primary for what is on the menu and the opportunity to sit outside and have a catch up and a coffee. Unfortunately the consistency of the service is not great. In the past it was good, then it was occasionally rude and most recently it seems to be inexperienced and slow. Hopefully this improves as it is a nice place for breakfast, a coffee and a catch up.

I thought I would give it one more try… I’m officially done. Althoug the staff are nice and welcoming and their coffee is not bad, the food is not worth the time or money. My scrambled eggs were not cooked, the bread was soggy and the miniscule amount of spinach and feta was difficult to fins. Not a place I would reccomend, and with so many decent places to choose from in Berwick, Primary should really go back to school and learn a thing or two.

It’s gotten to a point now where I just need to plant a big kiss on the chef of this amazing establishment! Being a regular here, I’ve never once been disappointed with any of my meals, whether it be toasted banana bread with orange blossom marscapone… savoury tart… corn fritters with crispy bacon or something from the specials board. Primary@Pioneers Park is for all generations. Sit inside and enjoy the log fireplace or sit outside and enjoy nature! My only wish is that they were open for dinner!

This is the kind of café that when they get it right, they get it VERY right. Trouble is, often they are so busy that the service is hit and miss at best and you have to contend with coffees that you ordered when you sat down arriving 20 minutes after you have finished your food, which BTW you waited 40 minutes for. However, what keeps me coming back is the awesome food, and when they aren’t absolutely packed, the service, although no-frills and no-nonsense, is fairly quick. Primary used to do all-day brekkie, which I wish they would reinstate because it is just so delicious, but alas, you have to order before 12 to enjoy the outstandingly fresh hollandaise sauce, free range eggs and homemade sides. The lunch menu is good too, with a decent offering of salads, pastas and toasted ciabattas. If you have children or a dog, there is a huge park and playground directly outside. Definitely worth a visit.
