The most surprising thing about this little take-away joint, is that Japanese people actually work there — the staff are always super friendly. As Alexander said, the décor is a bit sparse, and if you judged from looks alone, you’d not be unreasonable to wonder about the food, but it’s delicious. They have a large refrigerated case of fresh nori rolls with a good range of vegetarian options. Its refreshing to also try sushi made with care and great ingredients, as opposed to the fast food-court versions. And yes, the teriyaki tofu is delicious and great for a warming winter night’s feed.

Rolls is a fantastic, quick little Japanese takeout restaurant. It is very simple but I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food. I’ll be honest, by the look of the place I did expect something fried, oily or greasy but that wasn’t the case. The teriyaki chicken and the tofu are really delicious dish’s and are perfect for those nights when you crave some Japanese food or can’t be bothered cooking. A lesson learned though, when I turned up after a long day at work, at only about 8:15 and saw that it was shut, I was very disappointed! Very surprising and definitely won’t suit the later eaters. That’s my only criticism and I am confused as to why they don’t stay open later but if you can get there early enough then it’s definitely worth it. It’s cheap and for what you get and the quality of the food, there is no way you won’t go back.
