So I really, really wanted to like this place — and this is a nice little cute café, but unfortunately it was missing a little something for me to give it 4 or more stars. I think the biggest thing lacking is the quality of the coffee. Saying that, it was drinkable, but not great. Compared to Smalltown across the road, it was a let down. The best part of this café is the café itself. The outdoor seating is great, with a really homey feeling. If you are looking for a nice place to sit, then this would be your place. Saying, I don’t mind garbing my coffee and sitting on the beach. The food was good. The best thing was the baked goods. The muffin was brilliant! Baked in house it is seriously worth the try. I have to admit that the breakfast was a bit on the oily side. My mushrooms were covered in it. Now, if you are not a fitness freak you probably don’t mind. But sadly, I am one of those freaks. The service here is really friendly, but I wouldn’t be expecting anything less from the northern beaches.

Casual dining in a relaxed courtyard setting provides the perfect café experience. Chelsea Tea House is one of the many Avalon Beach shops and restaurants on Old Barrenjoey Road. There’s plenty of street parking or it’s a short walk from Avalon Beach. Its dog friendly! Bring your favourite four legged friend and enjoy a good cup of coffee or tea(it is the tea house after all). If hot beverages aren’t your thing they also have milkshakes! It’s open for breakfast(all day breakfast — yippee) and lunch. There was three of us dining on this occasion. We walked in around lunchtime and ordered the lamb wrap, smoked salmon salad and big breakfast. We all noticed how fresh the produce was and everything was cooked just right. The lamb seared perfectly, the haloumi was cooked to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; and the poached eggs were flawless. They do dinner on Friday and Saturday nights with main meals and share plates. At the moment they are having Mexican themed nights. who doesn’t love a Mexican fiesta on the weekend? It’s my mates favourite café in Avalon for breakfast, lunch or dinner. He says he can walk straight off the beach or out of the office into this breezy café and always feels welcome. Looking around its filled with dog lovers, beach goers, fashionistas, gym junkies, hippies, families. a little bit of everything and that’s what Sydney dining is all about it. I can’t fault this easy going, local café. A place where we all feel at home.
