This is an odd little store, sandwiched in between banks, businesses, newsagents and everything but clothing stores. The merchandise is certainly eclectic. Almost any genre of fashion(bar vintage) is represented here. On one given day you might see a beautiful long maxi dress on display. On another, formal clothing targeting mature women; on another, funky imitation leather jackets. I’ve been inside Ruby Iles a few times and it was the funky imitation leather jacket that was my first purchase. I was shocked to see the low price tag($ 40) and I get compliments whenever I wear it. This is not a large shop, but somehow the owner has also managed to squeeze in a selection of expensive chiffon-y dresses, ideal for very formal occasions(weddings, high school formals etc). Those looking for the perfect one-off might find it here. Such dresses can indeed be expensive, but I’d wager you could find a similar dress in a Paddington boutique for double the price. The main staff member(who always seems to be there and may be the owner) is lovely and always willing to help, or leave you alone if you just want to browse. The dressing room is a little make-shift curtained arrangement at the back of the store. But who cares? I got an awesome jacket for $ 40. I would have tried it on in the middle of traffic if necessary.

This is a ridiculously cool little shop that specialises in re-purposed vintage and new vintage designed clothing. If you want a unique sundress, or you have an hour glass figure this shop delivers in spades. Average dress prices are around $ 90 but you’re buying an original and the quality of fabric and fit make the expenditure worth it. They also have cute little accessories and quirky home wares. Well worth a visit.
