It has finally happened — Coin Laundry has changed Armadale’s backstreets. Once a stuffy little neighbourhood with not much to offer besides families and terrace blocks, it’s quietly becoming quite the culinary destination. Well, not really, but a new grocer has opened right next door to the Coin and my arms are just flailing in excitement. The Little Grocer has hitched its wagon firmly to the fresh, quality food movement. This isn’t a place to pick up a last-minute forgotten, but essential, carrot. Rather, it’s an epicurean food-store reminiscent of Nigella Lawson’s enviably well-stocked pantry. Now let’s have a minute to fantasize about Nigella. Aaaandd done. What this little shop is perfect for are the recipes, events and meals that call for a fancier range of ingredients. They sell luxurious butterscotch sauce in a jar. Need I say more? They also sell perishables like meats and cheese, and even pre-made dinners for the lazy but elegant clientele(cough, me). You might have to empty a fair amount of your pockets here to achieve a decent sized shop, but if you’re in the market for fine ingredients then get on board.
